Chapter 5
Farrah
The smell of bacon drew me near the kitchen. As I walked across the hall to reach the kitchen, I heard a scream from outside. Surprised, I ran to the window to see what was happening, when I was rushed by my parents. No, they weren't my parents. They smelled like rotting flesh. They had no discernible face and moved fast, yet slowly at the same time. There was something about them that warped time. I ran after them, calling out their names. They didn't hear me. They just kept on walking towards their destination.
As I followed them, I noticed other creatures heading in the same direction as my mother and father. I sped up so that I could reach the place that they were going before them. The other creatures had gathered around something. I heard a gurgling noise and looked around. There I saw a boy with white hair smiling and black goo slipping out of his mouth. I ran towards him, not thinking of anything else but to save him. I tackled him and we fell to the floor in a mass of tangled limbs. When I had untangled myself, I noticed that the creatures weren't after this boy, they had gathered around something else. The boy smiled up at me again and spit the black stuff into my face. "Ew," I said as I tried to shake it off of my face.
It didn't want to come off, though. It stuck to my face like glue. Whatever, I thought. I stood up and walked over to where the creatures were gathering. When I got there, the creatures dispersed and all I saw was a pile of bones. What a peculiar sight. I picked up one of the bones. It was covered in some type of corrosive. As I was holding it, it turned into dust. Soon after all of the bones had become nothing. Just dust in the wind. It was interesting how the corrosive on the bones hadn't even harmed me, or left some of the residue on my fingers.
I turned around to the boy to try to get some answers out of him, but he was gone. Just like all of the creatures. They had disappeared. Like their only goal was to consume whoever this person was.
