Tick tock, tick tock.
The clock echoed loudly in the room. I sat still on a black couch while a woman in a suit sat across from me with a notebook in her hand. I looked around the room feeling quite out of place within the monochrome aesthetic.
"So tell me Emilce, how are you feeling today?" Her voice was a soft hush that radiated a calming vibe around her.
"I'm alright I guess," I responded.
"Emilce, Could you tell me more about this 'Kimh' you've been sharing a body with?" She asked getting straight to the point.
"Want me to make her shut up?!"
"Be quiet for once?" I groaned nearly unaudible, looking down at my lap and fiddling with my fingers.
I could see the woman starting to take down a few notes into her journal with a small look of slight concern on her face. My gaze continued down until they landed onto a nametag. It read 'Dr. M. Wallace' in big writing while right below in a small font the word 'psychologists'. Dr Wallace then cleared her throat trying to get my attention back.
"Alright I know that you don't wish to talk about her but I believe that it would be best to try talk to someone. Try taking it in small steps for now,"
She sighed.
"Could you maybe explain what Kimh looks like maybe. Can you describe her?"
I lifted my head and looked to the young girl beside me.
"She's quite young, m-maybe eight years old?" I began.
My therapist smiled at me. "Very good. Anything else?"
I nodded my head. "She has long dark hair, with a fringe. And her face..... ," I drifted off looking back towards my therapist. She gave me an expecting look so I continued on. "Her face, it's not a face. Like I can see he facial features but it doesn't feel right, almost like its slightly disorientated if that makes sense?"
Dr Wallace smiled at me gently as she wrote some more notes in her journal. She then began looking through her notes. Her smiled was quick to fall the moment she pulled out a certain document.
"Does Kimh perhaps look like this?" She asked, sliding the document towards me. I raised my brows in confusion and curiousity as I picked it us. Turning to the first page my eyes widdened in horror as I dropped the document onto the floor.
"Why do you have this?!" I questioned in a whisper.
"Being a ghoul has its perks," she responded. "Is she the one..."
"Yes," I responded before she could finish her sentence.
"Thats Kimh."
...
"HEY EMILCE! Get another coffee for this table!"
"Oh shut up Nishiki, Stop making me do your job. I don't even work here anymore!"
"Make that two."
"Fuck you," I groaned reluctantly passing him over two fresh cups of coffee. "Your welcome asshole."
Nishiki smirked at me sensing my increasing annoyance and proceeded to throw an apron at my face. "Get to work. You got to earn your keep around here."
I rolled my eyes at him for what felt like the millionth time. "You don't even own this place dude, thats not your call to make!" I grumbled.
"Leave her alone Nishiki," Irimi scolded him.
"But she's just sitting on her ass doing nothing!".
"Am not!! You know what, I'm leaving," I said then threw the apron back at Nishiki.
"Don't be gone for too long," Irimi said.
"I'll be back in a few hours," I smiled to her while heading to the door.
Just before I got there the door opened and in walked a customer. Their ruby eyes instantly met with mine as a smile appeared on his face.
"Emi~!" Juuzou exclaimed engulfing me in a hug.
I tensed up almost immediately as flashes of what had happened the last time I saw him, came rushing to me. I nervously placed my arms around him. Would he kill me right now if he knew the truth?
"Hi Juuzou," I replied.
"Where have you been?! I have been searching for you for months!"
"I just went on a holiday to clear my head you know,"
Juuzou didnt seem satisfied with my answer but didn't push me any further.
I carefully looked Juuzou over. The cut on his cheek has long since healed. I looked to his shoulder and flinched slightly, remembering when I had bit into him. It felt like that was such a long time ago. Had the injury healed as well as the one on his cheek did?
"Let's go for a walk," Juuzou announced randomly. Without bothering to ask he grabbed hold of my hand, causing me to blush, then dragged me outside.
...
We walked along side eachother in silence. Only the sound of leaves ruffling gently in the wind and soft laughter in the distant could be heard in the distance.
I shifted my eyes towards him, watching closely as his eyes fluttered open and close, His hair flowing softly with the wind. It was though he came from another world, somewhere far away from here. A place where amongst all the beauty he would still stand out. Like a single rose amongst thorns.
His ruby eyes turned to me. The corner of his eyes wrinkling slightly as he smiled.
"What are you staring at Emilce?" He asked.
"Nothing. Just lost in thought," I replied calmly turning my head away.
"Remember that ghoul I told you about before? Black sugar."
Goosebumps travelled all over me at the sound of my ghoul name falling off his lips. "The one with the purple eyes?" I asked cautiously.
"Yes her, she seems to have peeked my interests."
"How so?" My eyebrows raised slightly curiously.
"She seems an awful lot like you to be honest. I think thats why I like her so much,"
My breathing hitched.
"He's getting closer to the truth~,"
I quickly turned away from Juuzou. "Shut up Kimh," I mumbled quiet enough that Juuzou couldn't hear me but loud enough that Kimh knew what I said.
"That's not my name and you know it~~,"
I sighed deeply then looked back to Juuzou. "Do you remember anyone with the name Akita Yukihara....?"
