Chapter 10

Sophie

Sophie, true to her word sat with them the next day but it wasn't like old times. She barely talked and kept her guard up. The only thought in her mind was "Don't be weak. Focus on the mission."

She could tell her friends were concerned but she pretended like she didn't notice. She didn't need anyone pitying her.

The only person she talked comfortably with was Keefe. She couldn't tell him about being an assassin but ever since she told him about her parents they had gotten closer. But she would only talk to him when he was alone which is why right now, during gym, she was pretending to listen to Biana's rant about the newest fashion trends when all she wanted was to talk to Keefe.

BANG!

It was a jarring noise that echoed in her head.

BANG!

Another went off and she clued in, recognizing that sound. Gunshots. Her eyes went wide realizing the stock of their situation.

"Everybody, get down and be quiet! It's a shooting."

Keefe

As soon as Sophie said those words, he started internally panicking. What if the shooter found them? Would he die? His friends?

His mental breakdown was interrupted when Biana asked the question that brought his whole word crashing down.

"Where's Sophie?"

(Sorry it's so short)

Sophie

She slipped out of the gym, undetected, running past the bodies while dialing Mr. Forkle. She sighed in relief when he picked up almost immediately.

"Sophie? What's wrong?"

"The hit on Biana and Fitz, it's today!" She said while panting.

She heard Mr. Forkle curse. She could imagine him rubbing his temples and she would've giggled.

"Agent Moonlark, you know what you need to do but don't let anyone see you."

She hung up, still trying to track down the shooter. She spotted them a few minutes later in the hall looking around as if contemplating which way to go. She couldn't see their face because of a cloak with a white eye on the arm. The signature look of the Neverseen.

Got to make this quiet and fast. She thought.

She pulled out her gun and lined up her aim. She quickly pulled the trigger, the figure turning around at the last second, not having enough time to dodge. The shooter dropped to the floor dead as soon as the bullet him in the head.

She ran up to them, pulling down their hood. She gasped in shock when she saw who it was.

Alvar Vacker.

402 words!

Sorry it was so short but this was such a good cliffhanger that I couldn't resist.
