Chapter 8

The day had finally come when Katey would challenge her brother for the territory and for me. It was as though time had frozen as we stood facing each other. The wind was still, the animals of the mountains were nowhere to be seen. There was the sent of fear and anticipation in the air. Katey’s brother stood in front of the two smaller wolves flanking him. He had black fur and bright green eyes only he was huge he was twice the size of Katey and I feared for her life.

He stepped forward and looked at me with a smile in his eyes as he turned towards his sister. Suddenly the breeze picked up and sent a cold shiver down my spine. He growled with aggression towards her which meant he was ready to start. Katey looked at me then both her and her brother stepped towards each other then started to circle, growling and baring their teeth with fearful fashion. Then out of nowhere he jumps up an attacks but Katey saw it coming and dodges him sending him colliding into a tree. This angered him and he charged with force and knocked Katey down causing her to howl in pain as he bites into her back leg. I had to bite down to stop myself from interfering.

The other wolves watched as Katey and her brother fought viciously. I feared that Katey would lose and that’s when I charged at her brother sending him to the ground as he was about to finish her. I stood over Katey protectively as he got up and sized me up. I growled with so much fury and hatred towards him that he growled back trying to show his authority. “You should not be in this fight!” He growled. “I don’t want you hurting the one I love anymore!” He howled in aggression and charged at me knocked me down but I managed to squirm out of his grip and bite down hard on his front leg.

This caused the other wolves to get involved and soon it was Katey and I against her brother and the two wolves. The brother stood back whilst the other two fought us which wasn’t hard. I managed to take one out whilst Katey finished the other off. That’s when he pounced, he tackled Katey to the floor and they wrestled each other biting and clawing and growled till it got to the point where Katey was hurt so badly that I couldn’t stand it anymore and before he could finish her off I stood my ground and howled a loud furious vicious agonizing howl that sent a shiver down his spine and caused him to stop in his tracks as he looked towards me.

I was beyond furious I was raging so badly that something strange happened. A light blue flame coursed through my body and surrounded it. It was a strange and powerful sight. I growled a dominant growl at him and he showed a look of confusion and fear that had me smiling. “Back away from my mate!” He looked down at Katey then looked at me. “Why would I back away from her if Im going to kill her and force you to be my mate?” he laughed the last part and that’s when I snapped and flew at him with such strength and hatred fueled rage that I had him thrown into a nearby tree knocking him out cold.

Katey stood up and looked at me with such love that the fiery rage within me disappeared. She slowly walked over to her brother and with a defiant growl she tore his throat out killing him instantly. She howled her victory and I couldn’t help but join in as our howling washed over the mountain range for everyone to listen to. When we finished Katey looked at me and shifted to her human form which I also did and we ran to each other and held each other tightly afraid at almost losing each other. We cried our hearts out as we kissed for what seemed like an eternity. Nothing in this world or the next could ever separate us. We stood holding each other on that dirt covered ground near the lake under the full moon for ages.

The wind picked up and it began to feel cold to the skin so we shifted back and ran towards to small cottage. When we arrived we both showered and kissed a little more then we looked each other over to check our injuries. Our injuries managed to heal up whilst we were in wolf form so that all we had were scars. We ended the night in bed making love to each other like it was the first time then we fell asleep peacefully knowing that we had nothing to fear anymore.
