Chapter 6

Katey and I started off towards my special camp area up on the mountain side early in the morning. The morning was cold and there was a light fog towards the top of the mountain. Birds chirped and cheeped around the trees as small fury animals ran amongst the forest floor always keeping a close eye on Katey and me. Once we both made it up the mountain side towards my camp area we set up camp and got a fire going.

          Katey decided to take me down towards the lake for a midnight swim. Yes it was cold but I would do anything for Katey. The moon was full and shined down on us as we shared a romantic swim together. When we dried off and walked back up towards the camp Katey froze mid step. She had a low growl in her throat and her body was stiff and defensive. “What is it Katey”? “Trespassers on my land and they aren’t friendly”. Katey slowly walked me towards our camp and told me to stay quiet then she transformed into Midnight and sniffed the air to figure out where the rogue wolves are and how many there might be. She figured there was about three and aren’t pure like her so would be easy to defeat even if the odds were against her.

          Before she could think of a plan of attack three smaller wolves stepped into the fire light. One was a dark brown wolf another was a grey wolf and another was black and grey and looked bigger then the first two. Im guessing he was the leader of the three. Midnight growled at me to stay back and I understood her like she said it at the same time in my mind. She told the male leader to explain himself for being on her land before she rips them to pieces. The leader told her that the great black wolf of the north wishes for her to join his pack.

          Midnight froze she knew this day would come when her brother would ask of her. These three must have been the top wolves in his pack to send them into my territory. “Tell my brother that I do not wish to join his pack for id rather be my own boss then be his lesser half”. The leader growled his frustration. “Why do you try my patience Katey your brother wants you to join as an equal partner. You are strong and you are pure. If you don’t join then he will have no choice but to invade your territory and kill you then he will take your mate!” They growled for ages and I could feel the tension in the air. “Tell my brother I will gladly rip his head off if he even thinks about touching her!” “So does your mate even know what she is? Or are you keeping her in the dark?” Midnight looked at me then turned back to face the other wolves and growled at them a little more viciously which sent a shiver down my back as I watched.

          Midnight jumped in a mock attack towards the three smaller wolves as they started to back away. “Leave my territory and make sure my brother gets the message!” The wolves turned and ran towards the trees and disappeared. Midnight transformed back into Katey. I asked her what was going on and she told me that her older brother wanted her to join his pack but she refused. I shook my head in confusion telling her that for some reason I could understand what she was saying. What was with this mate she had and why didn’t she tell me?

          Katey looked at me and told me that I was her mate. I wasn’t marked yet and I asked her that shouldn’t her mate be like her? A werewolf? She shook her head and told me that the dream I had of the white wolf with blue eyes was me. I stood there shocked as I looked at her. “What are you talking about are you trying to tell me that I am like you?” Katey smiled and said yes but because I was a rare and pure breed thought to be extinct I never transformed but with Katey biting me her magical qualities will awaken the wolf within me.

          Tonight was the night for this to work, for the transformation to be complete. I was a little scared and confused at first but Katey told me that I will be fine. She transformed and bit me hard on my neck and I thought I was going to bleed to death. I felt funny like something inside me was trying to get out. I heard Katey in my mind telling me that I will soon experience a great amount of pain as the transformation started.

          I could feel my bones and muscles contracting and changing as I cried out in pain with Katey still latched on my neck never letting go till I had completely transformed. She finally let go of my neck and stepped back to look at me. My fur was pure white like snow and my eyes were an amazing blue like my human eyes. I felt strong and all my senses where more keened in I could hear everything, smell everything and sense everything around me. I felt like nothing could stand in my way. Katey spoke to me in my mind and asked if id like to go for a run along the mountain to test out my newly found strength.

          I loved the feel of the air whipping against my fur as I ran like the wind beside Katey. I was surprisingly larger then her she told me I was a rare breed the largest and strongest of the werewolf breeds. I could defeat any other werewolf once I learned my strength and how to bring my attackers down. Katey told me that we were connected by a powerful soul bounding force which helped Katey find me after she left. As I ran beside her I knew that I was truly in love with her.
