After the light of Eugene's life was cruelly stolen away from him, he fell into a deep depression. Deeper than the Goo Lagoon. A depression more isolating than his depression after the war. He wasn't even aware how many days had passed since Sqwipwarm left with the maniacal star. Two? No, three? He decided to get up and look at his shell phone.
It had been 27 minutes. Well maybe this depression wasn't that bad actually. No, it wasn't. Because Squiddy had shown Eugene how to be strong. He lifted the old crab's spirits, he taught him how to love again. Eugene realized that he truly didn't know what love really was. His love for Puff was only dim embers compared to the wildfire that spread throughout his crabby heart when he met Squfward. But even after all of that, after all of the love Squibward showed him, was he really about to give up? Just let Patrick steal away the only person who had ever truly understood him?
