Chapter 9

Warning: My AU

Both touya and rei were drowning in tears as the sat there hugging. Touya had missed his mother too much and had dreamt off her loving voice and comforting his. He really was glad he followed ochako's advice. Rei too had missed her oldest son. His death has brought her a great deal of sorrow. After all, she was the one who was most effected by his death.

|| Short backstory ||

The first week after touya's death she was still in denial that her son had died, so while setting up the table for breakfast she would keep 6 plates and when Enji asked who the 6th one was for she would ask him if he was out of his mind and had forgotten that they had 4 kids. Enji would always get angry at her and scold her saying that touya had died and that she had to move on. For the next two months she locked her self up in a room eating and drinking only little and not caring for her other three kids.

Enji later forced her to go to therapy and in the end she was not grieving as much as before. But ever since the therapy sessions ended she got obsessed with blue roses. It reminded her of her deceased son. Every time Enji would go out she would put on a fake smile and ask him if he could bring one. At one point Enji got tired of bringing blue roses for her everyday, so he brought home a friend of his whose quirk could grow any type of plant.

Enji made him grow few blue rose shrubs, which at that time was as tall as rei's waist. When she saw these plants she was happy and started taking care of it like it was her own child who she had lost. At this time Enji had started to train Shoto. Rei didn't find out for the first few weeks as she was busy taking care of her plants, but once she found out she was scared. Scared that shoto also will meet tha same fate as Touya. She had already lost one son and wasn't going loose another. She felt that she had to stop Enji from training Shoto and let him grow up without any burden on his shoulders.

Enji was of course furious that Rei was trying to stop him, so he would hit her, mostly slaps but he wouldn't stop until she gives up on stopping him from training Shoto. Most of the time she ended up going unconscious. It went on for months and she still wouldn't give up. "Why are you being so difficult?" Enji would ask her. "Because i don't want to loose another one of my children" rei would reply to which Enji would ask again "So now you are blaming me for Touya's death? You know I had asked him to stop practicing because of how his body couldn't handle his quirk. But he was the one who didn't listen to me and that's what lead him to his doom." "So now your blaming my son for his own death. You are the one who put the idea of being a hero in his head"- Enji would slap her before she could even finish what she was saying.

One day, rei just woken up after she had passed out and she starts to cry. She was frustrated and angry but also hurt, not just physically but also mentally. She basically threw everything she got. A bit later when had calmed down her whole room was a mess (Enji and rei slept in different rooms ever since Enji had refused to stop shoto's training). She didn't want anyone to find out about her little venting or to question her on why her room was a mess so she proceeded to clean up her room.

While cleaning she found a rose that looked like it had withered for a long time. Then she remembered, she hadn't been taking care of the blue rose plants in their backyard for almost a month. So she frantically ran to where the plants were planted. But all she found was lots of withered and dry plants. She couldn't hold it in anymore and started to cry and fell with her knee down on the ground . She took a withered branch in her hand and started hugging it not minding the pricking of the thorns. Blood slowly dropped from her hands but she still didn't care. At first these plants reminded her too much of her dead son and taking care of those plants were a way for her to forgive herself.

It was like she was crazy. She started apologizing to the plants and then said "Touya, I couldn't take care of you then and here again I failed to care for you and protect you. I can't protect Shoto from Enji too. Maybe I really am a failure." Saying this she held the dead plant tighter making more blood gush out.

A few minutes later she was still sitting on the ground, when she felt a hand on her shoulder. She looked up to see that it was fuyumi. So she slowly keep the branch down and asked her "what's wrong, honey" but fuyumi didn't answer all she did was tug at the end of rei's dress and try to pull her. Rei understood that fuyumi wanted to show her something so she stood up followed her.

At other side of the house there was a plant that was not too big or too small. Rei inspected it closely and she recognized that it was a blue rose plant. "How?" She asked her daughter who was now watching tears run down her face and slowly pulled her into a hug. "Mom was busy protecting Shoto so I thought I would protect Touya-nee" she said while slowly wiping rei's tears. Ever since that day rei never forgot to take care of the plant.

Time skip to when rei was in the hospital.

Ever since rei left, fuyumi was the one who took care of her mother's blue roses which she found out represent her dead older brother, so every time she felt like she needed someone to listen but not comment or criticize about it, she would go to where the plant is and sit under it. Then she would talk to it like she used to talk to her older brother in the past.

Every time fuyumi visited her mother she would bring some blue roses and show rei that her plant was ok and being well taken care of.

This is both the end of the chapter and and of the flashback. Please don't criticize my AU since it isn't exactly canon. I will try to finish this faster than I intend to and byeeeeee
