I was sitting at the Posidion table for breakfast, and Jason sat at the Zeus table next to mine. Chiron had just explained to everyone that we shouldn't mention anything about last night's events around Annabeth, especially since she'd been charmspoken into forgetting about it, he said that talking about things she'd been forced to forget could cause... Problems. So he gave a long speech about it. Even the Ares and Hermes kids agreed because, for all the trouble they caused and all the fights between Cabins, no one wanted to be this kid that messed up the mind of the Architect of Olympus, or as they better knew her, good ol' Annabeth of Athena Cabin. She hadn't gotten to breakfast yet, but to be fair, it had just started and she had been charmspoken into sleeping last night.
"Hey, Perc."
I looked at Jason, I guess he'd noticed that I'd been thinking about something, I swear, it seems sometimes like this man can read my mind. "Hm, yeah, what's up, Jason?"
"I just wanna remind you, don't get mad at Annabeth... It wasn't her fault, we both know Piper is really strong with her charmspeak."
"Yeah... Yeah, I know. I'll just do my best... How are you holding up?"
"Alright. I haven't talked to Piper about it yet... In fact, I haven't talked to her at all since last night."
I hummed understandingly, then I noticed Annabeth walking up to the Pavillion. I'd expected her to go toward Athena's table, but instead, she walked straight to Jason and me. She was wearing a pair of jeans, a Camp Half-Blood tee shirt, and a pair of black Converse, and her hair was down.
"Hey, Seaweed Brain, hey Jason." She greeted and she sat on the bench next to me.
"Hey, Annabeth," Jason said.
"Hi, Sleeping Beauty," I said with a smile. She smiled back. Gods dam it. That smile. Why'd she have to unknowingly make me feel so guilty?
Jason had been looking around the Pavilion his gaze froze on Aphrodite table. "Huh."
"What?" Annabeth looked at Jason.
"Piper isn't at her table." Jason explained, looking back at Annabeth and I.
Annabeth made her I'm-thinking-and-annoyed face.
"Is something wrong?" I asked when I noticed it.
"No. Yes. Maybe? I feel like I should be annoyed with Piper about... Something... But, I can't for the life of me figure out why." She explained, looking me directly in the eye. It made part of me uncomfortable, because I knew why she should be annoyed with Piper. And because I was hiding more than just that from her.
"Maybe you were annoyed with her for a while so you just forgot the reason?" Jason offered.
"Maybe..." She said it like she was still thinking about it.
I thought quickly, if she thought about it too much, knowing her, she might figure it out. "So, did you sleep well?" I know, not the best cover up. No need to tell me.
"What-? Oh, yeah, did you guys sleep okay?"
"Yup."
"Yeah."
We ended up having a normal conversation over breakfast, then went through the camp activities. Weirdly enough when I got the chance, I slipped away to Piper's siblings. I wanted to know where she was, since she could cause trouble...
They had told me that she'd been in the Cabin when they all left for breakfast, but no one had seen her since then.
