Rhaenyra felt the nervousness paralyzing her whole body, but she still managed to tear her gaze away from Jacaerys and look at Daemon, who was hurrying towards her.

"It's all done," he revealed to her and she nodded. The decisive day would come soon, provided the Greens swallowed their trap.

"What did you do to Ser Gerald?"

"What I do with all traitors," Daemon replied unimpressed and sat down next to Rhaenyra.

Rhaenyra understood without a detailed description. Her husband showed little mercy towards those who had taken the other side. He had little sympathy for the Royce in particular.

Daemon watched her, never letting her out of his cool gaze.

"You're not backing down now are you?"

"Why?"

"You look like that. I know that look."

"And if I would?"

"Then you'd be crazy."

Rhaenyra furrowed her eyebrows. "Or I would protect my people."

Daemon grimaced. "The people that scream 'Rhaenyra the Cruel' when they don't get the things they want ? They are more faithless than a whore in Flea Bottom."

Rhaenyra knew he was right. They were demanding her demise and she still held her protective hand over them, but that was what a queen did. That was her duty. She had to protect her people.

Daemon saw her concerns and moved closer to her. "You must not back down now, Rhaenyra," he said firmly but gently.

"This is the only way to take down the usurper and the Greens. They have a new army. A powerful one. Bought with your money. If we let this chance slip away, there will be no second one. Not even the army of the North can stop them. We have to do this now, otherwise everything we fought for will be lost. Every blood shed." He paused for a moment. "Every lost life."
