The night sky echoed with the joyful sounds of sky shots, while bursts of colorful lights illuminated the heavens. Inside the vast marriage banquet, adorned in opulent decor, the Thakur family hosted a grand celebration. The banquet hall, in hues dominated by red, gleamed with elegance. The beautiful altar, also drenched in red, served as the sacred centerpiece for the ceremony. Well-known faces filled the venue, adding a sense of importance to the occasion. Every detail meticulously arranged, the Thakur family left no stone unturned in ensuring that this wedding became a truly significant and unforgettable event for their esteemed family.

"Ruhi, beta, come here," Laxmi called out to her.

Ruhi approached her mother; she was adorned in a pink sharara with golden embroidery. Taking gifts from Laxmi's hands, Ruhi exclaimed,
"Give it to me, Maa."

"All okay, Laxmi ji?"

A voice emerged from the back. Ruhi turned around to find Thakurain Chandra, adorned in a green saree with a big red bindi, as usual, on her forehead. Her hair was pinned up in a bun, with the saree fabric attached to it. Her personality always demanded attention, but today, with all the golden jewelry, she seemed to be announcing her presence to the world.

"Ji, Thakurain ji, everything is okay," Laxmi assured her.

"Arey, Laxmi ji, why are you all getting worked up like this? After all, you're the mother-in-law of my nephew."Prakash asked, as if he was taunting her.

"Why not, Prakash? I mean, she should work at her daughter's wedding. It's not like they can do anything except work at the wedding. I mean, of course, what else can they give their daughter except well wishes?" Chandra said sarcastically.

"No, actually, it happened so fast that we didn't get the chance to prepare any gift for Veer and for you, Thakurain ji," Laxmi said, looking down and feeling a little embarrassed.

"Arey, no, no, Laxmi ji. I mean, what can you even give to us? We just asked for your daughter's hand; you couldn't even give that," Chandra said, giving a glare to Ruhi.

"But I guess it was just bad luck for the elder daughter, but not for the younger daughter, right?"

"Now, Laxmi ji, just do one thing: check if all the food is prepared. I mean, the baraat will be here soon, and I have to greet all the guests. So, can I leave this work to you? I have more things to do now if you excuse us." Chandra left to meet other guests.

Laxmi looked at Ruhi, who appeared a little upset. Laxmi said while cupping her cheeks,
"Arey, why are you so tense?"

"Maa..."

"Don't worry. I didn't even listen to what she had said." Laxmi took all the gifts from Ruhi's hands as she said,

"You go check if Sejal is ready; the baraat will be here soon."

Ruhi turned her heels to the floor where Sejal's room was. She knocked on the door, waiting for a response, but after hearing nothing from the other side, Ruhi asked,

"Sejal, are you ready yet?" There was still no response from inside.

Ruhi gripped the doorknob and attempted to turn it up and down to open the door, but it was of no use as the door was locked from the inside.
