It was a smooth quiet drive to the airport with Carlos. Meanwhile, Suna allowed herself to let go of the worries at least until they return back to the palace. She let herself bask in her proximity to Kaya. His presence seems to bring her serenity. The worries will stay behind in Türkiye but and now is the time to start a new chapter with her husband.
They board the jet. Kaya is ecstatic that unlike their plane ride to Marmaris he can sit next to Suna and not steal glances- it was a strange reaction he admits to himself.
Not minutes after they board Suna yawns "I'll just take a nap until we get there". Why Halis decided they have to be in London in the dead of night is beyond her. Halis' irrationality never ceased to amaze her. That's same man who let her whole family move into his mansion on ferit's whim lest his grandson throw a tantrum or the same man who also kicked her family out a few days later for Ferit's mistake.
But she can't deny that if it weren't for her very short stay at the mansion she would've never gotten to know Kaya past his visit to their home.
When Ifakat told her that Kaya had feelings for her she didn't believe it. She couldn't. It was simply too good to be true.
-
She wakes up to Kaya tapping her shoulder. She fell asleep on his shoulder- how long did Kaya let her sleep on his shoulder?Their limousine dropped them off at the hotel and they bid Latif bey farewell after agreeing to set off to the meeting at 9 am. It was already 10:30 pm.
'There goes the promise of a honeymoon out of the window'- she thinks to herself.
-
In their suite:"Suna, are you rested?" Kaya asks.
"Yes. I slept on the jet. Plus the cold wind woke me up. I don't really want to go to bed already." She answers.
"Good! Let's go out." He says in relief and enthusiasm.
"Now?" She asks.
"It's New Year's Eve. Our first one together. We're not staying in." He says shuffling around the room.
'First! He said first'- she thinks to herself that he still wants the marriage to be real. She needed the reassurance. She is on the right path and her efforts will not be in vain.
However, she couldn't help but notice that he's nervous. "Kaya, are you okay?" She asks tentatively.
"Why wouldn't I be?" He says.
She takes a deep breath "I don't know perhaps you're nervous about the meetings tomorrow?"
"I am" He admits " But I don't want to think about it tonight"
"Ok I'll get ready" Suna said.
Suna wore a short sparkling blue dress that hit at the middle of her thigh and felt like a second skin. She was dying to wear for Kaya but didn't get the chance to.
Since Kaya told her that blue suits her she always found a way to wear blue at any given time. Kaya liked seeing her in blue and she loved the way he looked at her when she wore blue. She loved that she could illicit such looks from him.
From the way he was looking at her she knew that dress was an excellent choice.
-
"Let's go" he says taking her hand in his and they make their way to the car."I sent away the driver for the night. I wanted it to be just us" He says.
She appreciated how he rapidly delivered on his promise that this will be a honeymoon. They haven't had a moment to themselves-just by themselves since they got married. No one from her or his family can interrupt their time together- at least these few days.
