I think Bucky forgot my proclamation of love because he hasn't said anything about it. I decided it was a little brash and it probably freaked him out a lot. I haven't brought it up because I don't want him to react badly and I don't want to get rejected.
He just has so much going on right now and me laying that on him was wrong. I don't know what came over me, it just came out. Now, he's also probably trying to hunt down Ward after I told him what happened on that mission.
I clamber out of my bed and in to the hallway in search of Bucky. I decide he's in his room, sleeping, per usual. I easily pick the lock and find him lying on the floor. I quickly run to his side and try to rouse him.
His eyes slowly open and he squints at me. "What's going on?" he quickly sits up.
"I don't know, why were you lying on the floor? I thought you were hurt."
"Oh, no. I had a nightmare, got too hot and decided to cool off by lying on the floor," he answers.
I laugh, "Your first thought was to lie on the floor? Not take a cold shower or take some clothes off?"
He smirks at my innocent question. "Nope, guess not. What's up?"
"I was just looking for you."
"Any particular reason?"
"Do you remember what I said the other day?" I ask.
Part of me wants Bucky to say no and part of me wants him to say yes and hear those words from his mouth. Part of me is scared for both.
"Hello, Kat? Kat," Bucky shakes my shoulder.
"Oh, sorry. I zoned out," I focus on the conversation at hand.
"I think I remember what you said the other day. Forgive me if I don't, my brain is in overdrive right now."
"Bucky, don't worry about it. It's not a big deal," I open the door and start to leave.
Bucky pulls me back in his room and into his chest. "I love you," he whispers into my hair.
"You did remember?"
"Of course I did. How could I forget?"
"Oh, Bucky," I hold his face in my hands.
"I'm glad I didn't leave you. I'm glad you were assigned to keep an eye on me and didn't leave when I got rough."
"Bucky Barnes gettin' sentimental? Are you getting soft?"
"No, most definitely not. I'm getting sentimental because I've been this tough person with no feelings for too long. I needed to release pent up emotion. And I think I've done that with you."
"That involves you getting mad at me a lot, sometimes laughing at my jokes, have you cried since you've been around me?"
"Nope, you're just gonna have to wait for that," he grins.
"Oh good, I can't wait," I sarcastically reply.
"How long have we been doing this?"
"Doing what?"
"Hiding, fighting, all the works."
"Around four months," I answer.
"It doesn't feel like four months. I think it's getting too quiet, though. Hydra has something up their sleeve, I can feel it. They haven't come after us since the hotel."
"Maybe they don't know where we are. I bet they're waiting for you to go out somewhere by yourself or just with me and they'll attack then."
"Why with just you? They know what you're capable of."
"I'm an agent. Not a super soldier. I don't have wings. And I'm pretty strong, but I'm the weakest one here."
"And you can't go out there alone. I won't let you. I can't let you get hurt anymore."
"It's the job, Bucky. Someone is always going to be hurt."
"That someone doesn't have to be you."
"But I want it to be me." Bucky looks at me like I'm crazy. "Give me a chance to explain before you start judging me. I don't want anyone to get hurt. It's better me than someone else," I tell him.
"Don't say that. I don't want you getting hurt and it's better me than you."
"Bucky...," he shuts me up with a kiss.
"If you wanted me to shut up, you should've just told me," I pull away from the kiss.
Bucky attacks my lips and starts pulling me toward his bedroom. He closes the door behind him but I stop him before things go too far.
"Are you sure you want to do this? You've only known me for four months. That's not a very long time."
"It's long enough for me," Bucky growls.
He kisses me again, more ferociously this time, and I pull his shirt over his head. I run my hands down his chiseled abs and back up to his chest. I gently touch the scars from his arm and he starts kissing my neck.
I groan as he grabs the hem of my shirt and pulls it over my head, leaving me in my bra. He pushes me onto the bed and pulls my pants off. I blush as I realize I'm not wearing sexy underwear, but granny panties. Bucky doesn't seem to care.
Bucky looks at me in my bra and underwear and starts kissing me again. I pull on the drawstrings of his sweatpants and push them down. Bucky kicks them the rest of the way off, not separating from my lips.
I unhook my bra and drop it to the floor. Bucky stares at my breasts and grabs them in his hands. I try to hold back a moan as the cold metal of his hand touches the sensitive skin. Bucky notices that I tried to hold it back and smirks.
Bucky kisses my lips and moves down my neck, then my body, leaving a burning trail as he stops at my underwear. He makes his way back up to my lips and growls when my fingers gently brush his lower stomach. I hook my thumbs in the waist band of his boxers and slowly, agonizingly pull them down.
Bucky grabs my hands and hold them above my head while he pulls his boxers down the rest of the way. I try to get my arms free, but his vicelike grip holds me down. He hooks a thumb in the waistband of my underwear and does the same as me. I'm squirming under his gaze and he connects our lips.
Furious knocking wakes both of us up and we jump out of bed. I get dressed and wait for Bucky to have clothes on before I open the door.
"I've got the door, Buck!" I yell to him.
I open it to see Agent Caldwell standing there, an unreadable expression on her face.
"What is it?" I ask.
"I need you to come with me," she says sadly.
"Why? What is it? What happened?"
"Just come with me," she replies.
I follow her to the board room, where Coulson is waiting. He also has a sad expression on his face. Bucky runs in and looks at Coulson.
"What is it? Why isn't anybody telling me anything?"
Coulson takes a deep breath, "We were sent these pictures."
My heart drops at the sight in front of me. I stare at the screen for a few seconds before I fall onto Bucky and start sobbing uncontrollably. I can't breathe and holds me while I cry into his chest.
