Chapter 4: A Hard Challenge

Years later, Eric Randall became a hardworking man, following in the footsteps of his father Patrick who was also a hard worker. Eric's mother Linda, on the other hand, was a stay-at-home wife and mother. Eric's sister Lucy had always wanted to go to college, but due to financial constraints, her parents could not afford to pay for her classes. This made Eric feel bad for Lucy. However, she was fortunate enough to have her aunt Nancy Peterson, who owns her own beauty shop, pay for her to attend beauty school. After obtaining her beauty license, Lucy was planning on working at her aunt's beauty shop.

Eric is unhappy with his current job and is looking for a better one. His boss, Jerry Hanks, is difficult to work with. He overworks his employees and pays them poorly. Additionally, he shows favoritism towards some employees while treating others unfairly. Although Eric gets along well with most of his colleagues, there are a few troublemakers who often get him into trouble with Jerry. Unfortunately, Jerry tends to side with the troublemakers instead of supporting Eric.

Eric is employed as a delivery man, but some of the customers he serves are rude to him. Despite their behavior, Eric remains professional and does not engage with them. He needs this job and does not want to risk losing it. Eric is working hard to save money to attend law school and become a licensed lawyer.

The following day, Eric noticed that the town was bustling with activity in preparation for the arrival of an important person. Eric learned that Prince Nicholas was coming with the intention of proposing to Princess Helen. He knew that Princess Helen had turned down every prince who had asked for her hand in marriage so far. Although Eric had never met either of them, he frequently delivered packages to the castle. Despite this, he did not have any interest in meeting the princess because he had heard rumors that she was a spoiled individual.

Later in the day, after Eric finished work, he went to visit his best friend Daniel. Daniel, who was a , had saved enough money to open his own mechanic shop. However, Daniel's sister Bobby walked into the room without knocking.

This angered Daniel and he asked her, "Don't you know how to knock?"

Bobby then asked if Daniel had heard about Loki being in town.

Daniel replied angrily, "No, I have not heard and I do not care!"

Bobby called him a jerk and stormed off.

Daniel told Eric that his sister can be a bit difficult at times, but also revealed that he thought his sister liked Eric. Eric quickly changed the subject by asking about Daniel's business. Daniel shared that things were going well and that he would be opening his shop next week. Knowing that Eric wasn't satisfied with his current job, Daniel offered him a job in his shop with better pay. Eric was a trained mechanic, having earned his license while serving in the army, but had to leave the army due to a severe injury. Eric happily accepted the job offer.

Eric informed his parents and sister, Lucy, that he had decided to start working at Daniel's mechanic shop next week. His family was delighted to hear the news, and Lucy even expressed her happiness that Eric would no longer work for his previous boss, who was a jerk.

Eric noticed that his parents were upset about something and asked them what was going on. They revealed to him that Loki, a notorious individual who had previously brainwashed and murdered King Howard, was back in town and there were rumors that he was once again trying to manipulate the current king. While many people believed that Prince Paul, Princess Jenny, and Prince George were responsible for King Howard's murder, Eric's father knew that it was actually Loki who committed the crime. Prince Paul was also killed by Loki, and nobody knows what happened to Prince George or Princess Jenny. Patrick, Eric's father, urged him and his sister to stay away from the castle where the king was residing to protect themselves from the danger Loki posed. Eric agreed to his father's request.
