Chapter 9: The Murder Plot
King Charles contacted Eric and invited him to the castle. Eric accepted the invitation.
"What's going on?" asked Lucy.
"Helen's father, King Charles, wants to meet me," Eric replied.
"I don't think it's a good idea. I don't trust King Charles. It could be a trap," warned Lucy.
"Don't worry, I'll be careful," assured Eric.
"I'll accompany Eric to ensure his safety," added Daniel.
"Take this recorder with you, so you can record everything if King Charles tries anything," suggested Lucy.
Eric and Daniel arrived at King Charles' castle. The king invited them inside and asked Eric how much money he wanted to leave his daughter. Eric, feeling insulted, clarified that he did not want any money and reminded the king that he thought he had given his blessing for Eric to marry his daughter. However, King Charles revealed that he had only given his daughter the impression that he had given his blessing, and that he had actually been planning to get rid of Eric. King Charles then demanded that Eric take his money and leave his daughter alone.
"I told you I don't want your money!" Eric exclaimed in anger.
"You want my crown!" King Charles retorted, equally angry.
"I don't want your crown. I love your daughter. I will make enough money to take care of Helen!" Eric said, still upset.
"This is your last chance to take my offer!" warned King Charles.
"I love Helen and you can keep your money!" Eric replied, standing his ground.
"Guards, these men are trying to kill me! I want you to arrest them!" ordered King Charles.
"We did not try to kill you. You are lying!" yelled Eric.
Eric and Daniel quickly ran out of the castle. The guards knew that King Charles was lying, so they let Eric and Daniel escape.
Princess Helen later confronted Eric, accusing him of attempting to harm her father. Eric denied the accusation, expressing disbelief that she would think he was capable of such an act. He declared his love for her and insisted he would never harm her. Upset by her doubts, he told her to marry Prince Nicholas and gave her a gift, instructing her not to open it until he had left. He then left with Daniel and Lucy in anger.
Eric, Daniel, and Lucy were in the middle of getting ready when they unexpectedly ran into Jerry.
"What are you doing here?!" Eric asked in an angry tone.
Jerry tried to explain himself: "I know I have been behaving badly towards you, but I had my reasons. You see, I didn't want anyone to know that you were my son. Linda and Patrick, who you know as your aunt and uncle, are actually my sister and brother-in-law. I am Prince George, and King Richard is my father. It so happened that my father was in a war with King Howard, the ruler of France. However, my father wanted to make peace with King Howard, and so he sent my brother Prince Paul and me to talk to King Howard on ways to make peace," George explained.
"Eric asks, 'Why did Loki kill Uncle Paul?' George explains,
'King Howard's daughter Princess Jenny was married to Loki. However, Prince Paul and Princess Jenny fell in love and became lovers. After Loki killed King Howard, he framed Prince Paul, Princess Jenny, and me for the murder. Eventually, Loki killed Prince Paul, and I was able to escape. I do not know what happened to Princess Jenny.'"
