A/N I literally wrote this in like 30 mins it was just a cute idea I had. Literally wrote this awhile ago and forgot it was in my drafts so timeline might be earlier. Anyway please like and comment 💜

I just got home from practice and the house smelled wonderful. She was here.  It was always nice to come home to a house that wasn't empty. My girl had flown in today. She often flys back to New York after games and isn't here for practice days. she was a very busy woman who had better things to do than sit in my house while I'm at work.  But now that tour started up again and we hadn't seen each other in awhile, Just being in proximity was a luxury so she was here even if I had work. It was a bit of a ride navigating time for us  when we had such demanding careers but we'd fallen into a routine that works for us.

" Babe? " I call out  setting my training stuff down in the entryway

" just getting a new shirt, I accidentally sprayed water on myself washing my hands! I'll be right down" she yells back

I see her come downstairs moments latter. She's got a cute cat sweater and some leggings on, big smile on her face as she runs to me

"It's so good to see you. .  God this house felt so empty without you !" I say pulling her in for a hugs and kiss

" missed you too Trav." She stands on her tippy toes to give me another kiss as I hold her

" It smells good" I mention after we pull apart,  I'm sure my stomach is making noises. She must've noticed

" I made some grilled salmon and pasta salad for lunch,  it's on the stove still  "

"Sounds amazing. Thank you."  I love chef Taylor, she's truly the only one who could get me to eat some things I always refused to touch, I don't know what it was. I never thought I'd be eating broccoli unless it had a ton of sauce but she just prepares it right. I know my chef was jealous as hell at how easy I folded for this woman.

We go to the kitchen table to eat and I swear I see her limp but I brush it off because I'm hungry and was just happy to be reunited with my girl.

We clean up after lunch and It once again looked like she was In pain , I know she's often sore after a show and I've also seen all the chiropractor treatments she needs after,  But it looked different. I know a injury walk when I see one. I saw the way she stood up from her chair too, the weight shifted to one side. Tay has a high pain threshold so it was concerning if she was visibly in pain.

"Are you alright?  I saw you limping and saw a wince"

" I'm good. It's just part of tour, it's fine though. I'm always a bit achy after multiple shows. I have a session with my masseuse booked for tomorrow."

"I see you not putting pressure on your right foot" I call out knowing it's not just soreness

" I'm okay.  My last show I tripped backstage in one of the changing tents. It was near the end of the show tho so not too much pain, I've had worse injuries during a show and was fine."

" what did the tour nurse say?"

" like I said it was towards the end of the show, I didn't feel much because there's so much other stuff happening. But there was no blood and it wasn't severe pain."

" so translation; you didn't tell her and didn't get this looked at" I say knowingly.

Her lack of response said it all. She was like me when it came to pushing through pain on the job, only difference is that mentality ends for me when I step off the field. My career is at stake If I don't take care of myself and my injuries.
