A/N based on a request of Emily and Noah resenting Taylor for being more strict. This is a bit long I suck at editing.  I will have more coming.

The aroma of baked goods wafted though the sprawling kitchen.  Taylor had just taken freshly baked cookies out from the oven. It was met with an eye roll from the tween sitting across the kitchen island

" come on mom! You're being ridiculous."

"I'm not, you are a child and you're not going Emily " she says putting the cookies in a cooling rack

"But all my friends are going, their parents are cool and let them have fun. Unlike you."

" Good." Taylor, doesn't care what her kid thinks about this. And frankly if your older kids think you are cool you're definitely doing something wrong. Those Rich kids at that school, who's parents don't even raise them or seem to want them around. Those parents wouldn't see any issue with horse camp in Switzerland (or much else). Taylor knew she was on the protective side, but this really wasn't unreasonable. And there's horse camp here.

" ughh. Why not??? "

" you act like I'm saying no to a birthday party, I don't want you halfway across the world without us for months, with people we don't know. If there's an emergency I don't want to be that far away"

" we have a jet? " She says with a bit more attitude than intended

" Emily I already said no, and so did dad so you might as well drop it. " Taylor says firmly

"More like you just told him how you felt and he took your side, like always" Emily mumbled not too quietly

" Excuse me?! you can go to your room if you're gonna be disrespectful." Taylor wasn't in the mood to deal with this today

" I hate it here! You never want us to have any fun!" Emily yelled

" room. NOW! " Taylor points towards the stairs. This attitude was not welcome.

Emily dramatically marches upstairs. Taylor just groans and rubbed her temples. Her husband, Travis walks in the kitchen having heard the commotion from the living room.

" what's all that about?!" He asks flinching when he hears a door slam upstairs

" The usual. She is eleven. Eleven! You'd think she was seventeen. I didn't think we'd be dealing with anything close to this now. I don't understand what's going on with her. And Noah is giving me issues too"

"It's just a phase." He soothes. But she shakes her head

"They respect you. I'm the mean mom who sucks the fun out of everything. I miss when they were little babies"

"Look, I'm not excusing their disrespect, That's something we don't tolerate. But do you think that some of this behavior might be because you still keep them on a tight leash?" He tries to be gentle about it, he knows his wife means well.

" I don't smoother them." Taylor stiffens defensively " They still don't understand that there's risks that come with people knowing where they live. And they are still barely teens..14 and almost 12 are children. Get back to me when they are in high school!" she goes back to aggressively stirring batter

"Hey, I'm with you that some of the things they want are unrealistic, but you barely even let them go on class field trips. And You once put tracker bracelets on them for school "

" there's dangerous people. " she defends

"they love you, but they want some independence. Don't you remember when you were that age?"
