Chapter 16 - Join 'Em

(Jace)

It's been about a month since I marked Cody, and we are incredibly close. I couldn't stay away from her for too long and she can't stay away from me for too long either. I never thought I'd get the chance to feel this way about someone. Cody is everything I dreamed.

But with the war coming up rather fast, my little mate has been on edge. She doesn't want anything to do with it, but tries to do everything to stop it from happening. The little minx has even tried distracting me from helping with the planning by seducing me. That works a little too well for my liking. Jaden doesn't like it, but he doesn't really have a choice. I can't say no to her, just like he can't so no to Luke.

I look over at my mate and see her staring at me with a small smile on her face.

I chuckle and lean over to kiss her nose. "You need to stop seducing me. You're going to make Jaden have a cow the next time you step into the planning room, little one."

She giggles and gives me mischievous eyes. "Stop making it so easy."

I move so I'm positioned over her with my hands on either side of her head, holding me up so none of my weight is on her. "You don't play fair, you know I can't say no to you."

"Sounds like a you problem." Cody shrugs and sticks her tongue out at me.

I dip my head down and start to kiss my way from her bare shoulder to her neck. "I can play dirty too ya know." I tell her.

Cody lets out a small moan and captures my hair in her hands, pulling on it slightly and making me growl softly in her ear. She knows how I work, I'll give her that.

A sudden banging is heard from the door. "Jace if you don't get off my sister and to the planning room Jaden is going to pop a blood vessel." Luke warns from the other side.

I groan and rest my forehead on Cody's while she giggles at me. "Want me to piss off Jaden a little more?" I whisper, smirking. Perks of being the alpha's best friend is knowing he can't do too much damage to his beta. So when the opportunity to piss off said alpha rises, you know damn well that I'm going to take it.

Cody's bright blue eyes brighten even more at the chance to make Jaden possibly pop a blood vessel. "Yes please." She whispers back.

I smile and kiss her softly, but pull away after a second, knowing I need to get with my plan. "Tell him I need another ten minutes. She ain't done yet." I say loudly, knowing damn well that Jaden could probably hear from downstairs.

Cody slaps my arm and gets up from the bed, getting dressed. I sit on the bed and lean back on the headboard with the blankets covering up everything.

"Are you fucking kidding me?!" I hear Jaden scream, footsteps pounding around and up the stairs.

"You're gonna get it this time, Jace." Luke says from the other side of the door. I chuckle softly and get comfortable.

"If he can get passed the locked door, I might let him get in a punch." I say, watching Cody slip one of my jackets over her shoulders, zipping it up.

"I'll give you more than a punch, asshole!" Jaden growls, kicking in the door. Cody jumps slightly from the sudden noise and just shakes her head before walking out, stepping over the door, and dragging Luke with her down the hall.

"What? No help here, Cody?!" I yell after her.

"You're on your own." She laughs.

"Some mate you are." I grumble and look towards my fuming best friend. "Sup, Jaden?" I smile.
