In the car

Looking out the window, the hazy blur of the trees passing by across the sides of the road were similar to black shadows floating alongside the passengers... similar to the black shadow... aka, the tall guy with black shirt.

'Lambu ki height kitni hogi ?,' she mused, gently rubbing her chin with contemplation.

5'6'' ? Nope,' she dismissed, shaking her head with certainty.

'Utni to mumma ki height hai...,' she thought, glancing at her mother beside her, who was now resting her eyes, tired from patiently waiting in the courtyard for the entire duration until her exams concluded.

5'9'' ?... lagta to nahi,' she added, shaking her head again while pursing her lips.

'Mere ankhon se height measure karun to...,' she raised her hand to eye level, calculating a head's difference, almost emulating his sitting height. 'Itna ?,' she pondered, her brow furrowed in concentration.

Shaking her head once more, she realized, 'Khade pe bhi to height difference hogi... idiot!,' hitting her head with her raised hand she turned to peer outside again.

The blurry trees subsided, giving way to the open highway, with the light poles slowly turning on, brightening their path.

Recalling his standing silhouette that she had glimpsed outside the interview room, she contemplated, 'Utna lamba to nahi laga tab.'

But his running figure, growing in size as he almost reached the lift doors made her curios.

Ba-thump!

A warmth crept up her neck, memories of his distinct face playing hide-and-seek in her mind.

Black bushy eyebrows...
'Raise to aise karke rakhha tha jaise pata nahi koi ajooba dekhliya ho?'

Ba-thump!

Instinctively, her hand reached to her chest, attempting to soothe the lively pitter-patter of her heart.

His small petite forehead... in complete contrast to his sharp nose... or was it a big nose. Closing her eyes, she tried to refresh her memory and recall his features with more clarity.
