Y/n pov

I was frozen in time. I couldn't move. I had heard about these but I never thought I would be face to face with one. Millard grabbed my hand and tried to pull me away but I just kept standing and staring. Then I remembered something. I focused on the two lights attached to the back of the porch.

"Y/n what are you doing?! RUN!" Millard ran off but turned around to try to get me to run.

I felt the bulbs break and shoot past me and into the beast and severely electrified and burned it to a crisp. The hollow fell to the ground and I heard a shriek behind me.

I turned around to find Millard on the grass bleeding from his side.

My bolt had hit him.

I ran to him and fell on the ground,"Millard? Millard? Please say something! Please!"

Miss Peregrine ran over to us and carried him into the house to a plain white room. "He is breathing. But he might not make it."

Enoch came into the room with medical supplies and checked his pulse. I left the room as Enoch started to stitch him up and wrapped him with bandages. I ran downstairs and locked myself in the library.

It's been a week of weeping. I wouldn't come out to eat or sleep. I surrounded myself with his favorite books. Enoch would knock on the door. Horace would leave food outside the door for me. Claire would slip drawings under the door. Fiona left me some roses.

Eventually the bird flew through the window I had left open,"y/n, do you know how long you have been in here?"

I was sitting in a chair in the corner. Half of the room was dusty. I hadn't had a bath in so long. There are dark circles around my eyes. I was so dehydrated.

"2 months. 16 days. 4 hours,"she looked at her watch,"28 minutes."

I stood up and walked over to her. She opened her arms and embraced me. I needed this more than anything. She put an arm around me and walked me out of the library. The light hurt my eyes at first but I quickly got used to it.

The first thing I did was run upstairs to the plain white room. Millard was lying there almost lifeless. The room was so silent you could hear a pin drop. I sat on the bed next to him and laced our fingers together.

"He's not waking up," Enoch leaned on the doorway,"his heart stopped yesterday evening."

I quickly checked Millard's clearly steady pulse,"That is NOT funny!"

"Yeah you're right I'm sorry. But he is still in a coma."

I kept my eyes on Millard,"how long is it going to be?"

"Why do you expect me to know? You did this to him. You of all people would be the one to know," his sarcasm cut me like a knife.

I stood up from beside Millard and looked Enoch in the eyes,"I tried to protect him! I tried to protect everyone," I screamed as tears brimmed my eyes," I never wanted to hurt him. I never wanted him to know the pain I have felt. You can't just act like I did nothing to stop the hollow."

"So he was just in the way? He told you to run-"

"If I ran I would have died."

The room was dead silent. Enoch grabbed my wrist and pulled me into a somewhat awkward hug, as if he had never hugged anyone before. Soon I found myself weeping in his arms.
