Love Beneath The Stars (Shin Soukoku)

Atsushi and Akutagawa had been sent in another mission, it had been a minor bomb threat. But Dazai being Dazai, he made the two work together nonetheless.

Atsushi and Aktugawa had managed to disarm the bomb and arrest the person who threatened the attack, who turned out to just be a stupid high schooler.

Now, the two sat on a grassy hill, staring up at the dark sky, moonlight shining across their faces. Atsushi snuck glances at Akutagawa, taking in his appearance. How his black hair flowed in the breeze, the white tips brushing against his face. His dull eyes lit up by the Moon's glow, and the soft expression that now replaced his usual cold look.

Akutagawa did the same to Atsushi, taking mental notes of his appearance. How his uneven bangs slightly hid his face, how Atsushi's violet eyes glistened with happiness, the hints of pale yellow making them more stunning.

"Hey, Akutagawa?" Atsushi asked.
"What is it Jinko."
"Why do you hate me so much? I mean, before I understood, because of the bounty on my head, but now you can't kill me for that, but still hate me."
"Because you got everything handed to you. You got Dazai's approval, you got accepted, treated kindly. You got everything just given to you, yet I endured countless training sessions with Dazai and couldn't even get a simple well done."
"But how is that my fault?"
"You got it all for just existing! Everything I wanted, that I worked for! Why do you have to be Dazai's favorite?! What do you have that made you so much better?!"

Atsushi doesn't reply at first, now staring down at the ground. "You think I got everything handed to me on a platter?" Atsushi's questioning tone had now changed to a more cold voice.
"Yes Jinko. Because you did. You just existed and you got Dazai's approval!"
"Is that all you care about?! It's always Dazai this, Dazai that! God, move on! You're not his favorite, deal with it! Just because I got Dazai's approval doesn't mean I got everything handed to me on a fucking silver platter! I got my leg ripped off, I got beaten black and blue at that damn orphanage! I rarely got meals, I almost died by the bridge! But of course, that was nothing was it? Because apparently, that still means nothing!"
"Oh boo hoo! You have trauma, so what?! We all do! And yes, I'm upset about the fact that you got Dazai's approval so easily, because I didn't get it even after everything he put me through! He beat me, he'd shoot me, and punch me, until I was bleeding on the floor! Do you know how humiliating it was?! And still, I got no recognition from that!"

Atsushi glared at Akutagawa before looking away. "Akutagawa, I get that you're upset Dazai's didn't recognize you, but it's not my fault."
"I know Jinko. But it's hard to hate your idol, so I just hate their favorite. Or act like I do." Akutagawa mumbled the last part. Atsushi looks back at Akutagawa, noticing the hint of sadness in the man's eyes as he gazed at the starry sky. Atsushi sighs before reaching towards Akutagawa, and putting a loose arm around him. Akutagawa immediately jumped. "Jinko what are you doing?!" He yelled.
"You're upset, this is called comfort." Atsushi muttered. Akutagawa slowly nods, beginning to lean into Atsushi slightly. He props his head on Atsushi's shoulder, and Atsushi runs a hand through Akutagawa's hair.

They stay that way for a few minutes, their faces slowly getting closer. "I think you're amazing Akutagawa. It might not be Dazai's approval, but it's someone's." Atsushi mumbled, a stupid smile plastered across his face. Akutagawa laughed slightly, before leaning in and kissing Atsushi.

Atsushi turned crimson red, his eyes closing and he kisses Akutagawa back. One hand rests on Akutagawa's cheek, the other on his waist. Akutagawa had both his hands cupping Atsushi's face.

As they slowly parted, Akutagawa let a soft smile spread across his face. "Your approval is better than Dazai's Atsushi." He whispered. Atsushi let out a quiet squeal. "You said my name!!" He yelled. Akutagawa just laughed and planted a small peck on Atsushi's cheek.
