Kenori being her own person since she was young, always had her independence loud and clear. She didn't want to depend on anyone, for anything.
"Hey, Kenni." Dani's light voice made Kenori look up, seeing her smiling. She noticed how Dani always had a smile on her face.
"Hey, Dani." She greeted the girl, with a small wave.
"What you doing? You don't mind if I sit?" Dani asked, pointing at the bed. Kenori gestured for her to sit, and she nodded, sitting down. "I'm not doing anything, just finishing this essay I have to turn in tonight." Kenori informed her.
"You doing anything, next weekend?" Dani paused between words as if she was nervous. Kenori submitted her paper, and closed down the laptop.
"No, why?" Kenori raised an eyebrow.
"I wanted to invite you to my sister's party. I know you don't do parties after the whole Mekhi situation, and you're like an introvert. But I would really like it if you would come. It's not today or anything, you have time to decide. You don't have to—" Dani ranted.
"I'll go, Dani." Kenori cut her off, informing her of the choice. A smile stretched on Dani's face, as she did a sigh of relief.
"Why you sigh so hard?" Kenori asked, on the verge of laughing.
"I really wanted you guys to go. Shae told me she would go but she wasn't too sure of you, so I had to ask. Thank god, I did." Dani held her chest, with a giggle following. "Sorry, I just never really had females friends, Nino always ran them away." Dani expressed.
"Nino?" Kenori asked, raising a eyebrow.
"He's a man whore. I literally can't bring females around him." Dani informed her and Kenori covered her mouth to hide the silent laugh she did. "Are you hungry? I'm hungry." Dani stood on her feet, getting off the bed.
"Sure." Kenori nodded, getting off the bed to follow Dani downstairs. Kenori didn't mind the company that Dani was keeping while Shae was in the middle of running errands, and in the process she said she would get groceries. She rarely talked to anyone, honestly. She didn't mind being alone, that's what she preferred, but she also didn't mind being accompanied by Dani. Dani was a sweet girl. Even though they were still learning each other, she was so likeable.
"Hello?" Dani's soft voice broke the silence as they made it downstairs, holding her phone to her ear.
"Yeah. You get my text?" She stated into the phone, now leaning over the counter.
"You want tenders?" Dani pulled the phone away from her ear, looking at Kenori. Kenori being so deep into her phone, Dani's words weren't heard. "Kenni?" Dani called out again. Kenori snapped out of her trance, looking up at Dani in a slight shock.
"Huh?"
"You want some tenders?" Dani repeated her previous question.
"Yeah, it don't matter." Kenori answered with a shrug. She hadn't really ate since Shae cooked breakfast that morning , it was now going on five pm. She sighed lowly as Dani continued the conversation on the phone. Kenori leaned on the counter, observing how Dani smiled before the called ended.
Kenori knew Danielle for only three weeks, and from the many meetups the group had, she noticed how she tried to discreetly smile when she was talking to Messiah.
Everyone else called him Meechie or Meech, but she called him by his real name. He always had a complaint when she did, but he still allowed it.
Kenori didn't say anything, but from Danielle's confused look on her face, she realized that she was caught staring.
