Friday when I was getting ready to leave out the front of the facility, I heard footsteps running behind me. I whipped around to see Andrei, who was seemingly trying to catch up to me.
"At least you didn't run me over this time." I joked as he stopped just in front of me.
Andrei and I had bumped into each other a few times throughout this week, but this was the first time he'd run after me.
"Very funny." He smirked. "I was running to you this time. Not passed you."
"What's up?" I asked.
"Oh, nothing. I just figured I'd walk you to your car since we're going to the same place." He informed me, and started walking with me.
"Oh, well that's nice of you." I commented. "You guys got done early today." I said after looking at my watch.
"Yeah, I guess they were done torturing us for the weekend." He laughed.
"Got any plans for the weekend?"
"Uh, I'm not sure yet to be honest. Probably just relaxing at home, enjoying my few days off. You?"
"I'm not sure yet either." I admitted. "I know I'll be with my family tomorrow night. I had thought about flying back to LA for the weekend and surprising my students, but that's not gonna be possible."
"Why not?"
"Oh, the dance studio I work at is completely booked up for this weekend. I got signed in and tried to block out a slot but they were all taken. And my friend isn't at the studio this weekend so I can't crash his class either."
"That sucks, I'm sorry. I'm sure they're ready to see you too."
"Yeah, they've been messaging me all week asking when I'm coming back." I smiled.
"I can tell they mean a lot to you. Your face lit up as soon as you started talking about them."
"They do mean a lot." I agreed. "They're the reason I do what I do. Seeing their growth week after week, it's so gratifying."
We chatted for a few more minutes before saying goodbye and going our separate ways.
I was surprised he didn't try to linger longer than he did. Maybe I had it wrong, and he didn't like me.
I liked talking to Andrei. He seemed really nice and the conversations have never felt forced. Granted it hasn't been long, deep talks, but they've been stimulating.
He was a very soft spoken, respectful guy.
My only goal for this weekend was to come up with some choreography for when I get back to LA. I had enough time to come up with a bad ass routine to return with, and I was determined to do so.
That was my plan for the weekend, aside from watching the fights with my family tomorrow night.
I was looking forward to that. It'll be the first pay per view we've watched together in six months.
Our family was almost always divided on our picks. Whenever one or more of us picked a different fighter, we'd always make friendly bets on who will win. Whoever lost had to do something embarrassing or goofy.
It was always so much fun.
For some reason, I had the urge to do something impulsive today. I wasn't sure what I should do, but I needed to do something.
I just went driving around, and I passed a tattoo shop. I immediately decided that was what I was gonna do.
I only had one tattoo, and I've always wanted more but I never wanted to get something that was meaningless. I've always tried to pick out more, but I couldn't ever find something that meant enough to justify getting it.
