*I know I promised this chapter days ago. I meant to fulfill that promise wholeheartedly, but I started it over from scratch so it took me long than expected. I made a little longer to make up for it!*

There's no reason to be nervous Michaela.

I kept telling myself that in my head as I got dressed. I have nothing to be nervous about.

I stuck my gold, dangly earrings in my ears and looked myself over in the mirror.

I blew out a breath. It's just meeting your boyfriend and brothers teammates and all of their girlfriend's and them possibly judging you all night I said while smoothing out the fabric of my dress that clung to my hips. No big deal.

I was possibly over dressed.

I was wearing strappy, six inch heels, which wasn't at all outside the norm for me, but I paired them with a black, form fitting dress that stopped just above my knees with a high neckline. The top portion of above my breast was a sheer material with short sleeves.

It gave it a sophisticated and elegant look.

We were told to dress in somewhat of a cocktail attire, so I tried not to overdo it but I wanted to make sure I looked completely on point for the night.

This gathering had me more on edge than I would have expected, but that probably had more to do with the rejection I felt earlier today when speaking with Brian than it did with meeting the team.

I had finally found the nerve to offer to make my position permanent, but I was too late.

*Flashback*

I could feel my nerves consuming me as I made my way to Brian's office. I'd been having an internal struggle with myself since Wednesday.

I couldn't figure out why. I knew what I wanted, so why was I afraid to make it happen?

My only guess was that I was afraid of being told no.

I sucked in a few deep breathes as I stood outside of Brian's office door, willing myself to knock.

When I finally raised my hand to rasp on the door, I was cut short by it opening in front of me.

"Oh, Michaela. Hi." He said in surprise as he almost ran into me.

"Hey Brian." I greet him with an unsure smile. "You have a minute?"

"Oh sure. I was actually headed to your office. I know you've got the get together thing tonight, so I'll be quick."

I gulp.

He's been by my office exactly two times since I got settled in here. So I was extremely doubtful that his visit was just going to be casual.

"Please. Come in."

I followed him into his office and took a seat in the chair across from his desk. He sits down in his own chair and then clears his throat.

"So, you go first. What brings you by?"

I found myself trying to form a simple sentence, and failing miserably at it. I could read the confusion written on Brian's face as he sat patiently waiting for me to speak.

"I-I wanted to talk with you, um, about my position here." I started, and his expression smoothed out.

"Of course. I'm sure you've been dying to know when you'll be headed back to LA. I'm sure your bosses are too."
