Captain Kang Nam-ra
KANG NAM-RA WAS THE TALK OF SEOLYA MIDDLE SCHOOL.
She was 13 going on 14 and was very happy, thriving at her school. She played soccer, was voted 8th grade class president and extremely wealthy.
No one knew of her father and mothers split. "Good morning Kang Nam-ra" a teacher greeted. "Hello Ms.Hwang" Nam-ra bowed her head. Nam-ra slid open classroom 2-A where a boy sat in her spot.
His dark hair fell over his eyes and his face was in his hand. "Excuse me. I um sit here" Nam-ra said fiddling with her bag. The boy looked up, a sunken tiredness in his eyes as he muttered a "Sorry". His voice hoarse.
"It's quite alright. you must be new, i'm Kang Nam-ra. Class president" She grinned. "Choi Jun-woo" he said. Nam-ra pulled the desk connected chair to Jun-woo's.
"I'm captain of the girls soccer team. If you're interested in sports many are holding tryouts." She said. Jun-woo examined the bright smile on her face.
Her long pin straight hair pulled into a pony tail with a black bow at the base. "i'm not sure" he mumbled. "That's fight i didn't know what i wanted to do at first" she said.
During lunch Jun-woo sat outside praying he could avoid his brother who was in class 1-b. He saw someone plop down beside him. Shiny black shoes came into view. Her ankles covered by cherry covered fabric.
He looked up and noticed the girl known as Kang Nam-ra was eating a bowl of fruit. "Want one?" she pointed at the various pieces of strawberries. "Are you sure? don't you have friends to worry about?" he asked.
"Yes just i um" she fumbled over her words. Nam-ra looked up to see Hee-sik walking past with his friends. "Hee-" She got up but he casted her a disgusted glance.
Nam-ra's smile that was glued to her face faltered as she dropped back down next to Jun-woo. "Your brother doesn't like you" he pointed out. "Thank you captain obvious" she rolled her eyes.
"It's okay. My brother hates me too." he said sighing. "It's because my mother/Father cheated and had me" The two said at the same time. Nam-ra turned to him "No way" she said.
This time Jun-woo broke his mysterious barrier and laughed. His laugh was contagious that even Nam-ra began to laugh. Over that one day Nam-ra and Jun-woo got closer.
Jun-woo confessed everything to nam-ra and kept his fingers crossed she was a nice as she seemed. Nam-ra did the same praying he wouldn't say anything. She liked jun-woo, he was funny and really nice. Jun-woo liked her too she didn't get annoyed with his constant talking.
That came crashing down the second Jun-woo stepped into his home.
******* Abuse warning*************
A glass cup coming flying for his head. He dodged the cup but shards came to scratch his face and neck.He bit his tongue and looked at his older brother. Gun-woo stood there angrily. "Where have you been?" Gun-woo fumed throwing a glass plate this time. Jun-woo moved just barely missing it.
"I was with Nam-ra" he mumbled. "Nam-ra? is she your girlfriend?" his brother came toward him fast grabbing the back of his neck. Nails digging into the skin. "Do you think you're allowed to have a girlfriend while you're a bastard?" He grumbled. A knock came to the door.
Gun-woo threw his brother onto the ground and opened the door. He gazed down at the middle school Nam-ra. "I'm looking for Choi Jun-woo" She said. "He's not here get loss brat".
*** abuse over**
Nam-ra scoffed but said nothing. "you have some nerve" Gun-woo gripped the door until his knuckles turned white. "Yes well this house definitely needs fixing" she examined the multitude of cracks and old parts.
"Who do you think you are you bitch!?" He grabbed her collar raising her from her feet. "Captain Kang Nam-ra number 2" she held two fingers in front of his face. "I'm also Daughter of Lee Yeon-jin of Sakura Group. Oh and i'm class president" She grinned cheekily.
"Sakura? cosmetics?" he asked. "Where your mother works yes. It would be quite the same if she got fired, i suggest you put me down" He dropped her.
"The brat isn't here" he went and closed the door. Nam-ra was gonna get Jun-woo out. So she did what she did best. Nam-ra stood with a soccer ball.
Gun-woo came to throw trash away Nam-ra made a whistle noise. He turned his head in enough time to see a Soccer ball hurtling toward his face. Nam-ra was known for having a power in her kick.
Jun-woo came to see the noise when he spotted a familiar figure and chased her. He was led to a park, the girl turned around and Nam-ra pulled off her hood.
Her hands fled to his face checking his injuries. "You hit my brother in the face with a soccer ball?" he questioned. Light filled his once dull eyes with a big grin. "You hit my brother with a soccer ball!".
Nam-ra watched him as his smiling stopped and worry took over. "oh god you hit my brother with a soccer ball". "Oppa- I mean jun-woo i did" she quickly corrected herself.
The two were standing where hee-sik use to take her when they were children. The last time was right before her father dragged her out by her hair.
"Did you call me oppa?" he asked her. "Sorry you remind me of my brother before everything happened" she sighed. "You can be my little sister, i don't have one but i wish i did" he said.
She smiled at him and he smiled back. "Come sister we gotta get bandaids" he smiled widely. Since that day a big smile never left his face when he was around Nam-ra.
