Chapter 19
"I know Tigmas are faster than us Fauhls, but what was that?! Since when are Tigmas that fast?! And since when do Tigmas have any kind of magic? What was it that you did to that treaty?! Now you're telling me you can build a route to wherever your hide out is and you can do it in a few short minutes?"
I laughed, "That is exactly what we are telling you."
"Now be quiet so we can concentrate," Sam told him. "It is not exactly an easy process, especially since the route is extremely long."
"The route needs to reach as far as the Tigma castle is from here."
"What?!"
"Shh!" Sam said, "Quiet remember?"
"The Tigmas are hiding in the castle?" he asked.
"Not exactly," I said, "now quiet!"
We climbed up the mountain until we reached a ledge a foot long. The three of us stood on it and Sam and I grabbed hands while saying a spell to create an opening in the rock. From the bottom of the mountain it is not noticeable, but it is the same width as a doorway and extends into the middle of the mountain. I could hear Alexander muttering in surprise as we walked in. Along the way Sam and I used a simple spell to up torches so it did not get too dark. From the outside of this mountain of course it was not noticeable. There are no torches near the entrance. Once we got to the middle of the mountain Sam and I grabbed hands again and spoke a different spell. This spell created stairs going as far into the ground as the Tigma city is.
"How far do these stairs go down?" Alexander asked as we began climbing down them.
I shrugged, "I guess we are about to find out."
Alexander began complaining after only a half hour of walking down the stairs. Sam kept shushing him and threatening to make him quiet, but after a few minutes of quiet he went back to complaining. "How do you handle this?" he whined.
"Did nobody teach you that Tigmas tend to be faster and stronger than the other races?" Sam asked back instead of answering. "Did nobody teach you anything about the Tigmas?"
"The Fauhl people are trained their entire lives, but we cannot compete with this. From the time we can walk we are taught how to run, lift, and train to be a good wolf. Now I learn that the Tigmas do not even try."
"We do try," I said, "and we never said we did not have to put in effort. However, the Carter family and anybody related to the Carter family puts us in a different category."
"How?" Alexander asked. "I do not understand any of this."
"It is not for you to understand," Sam said annoyed. "It is not for anybody outside of the Carter family to understand. It is a royal secret. Can we continue in silence?"
"As long as you tell me something about what happened. My father may have agreed because he was friends with your parents, but I am not as easy to convince. I want the truth so I know what my father put us into."
I sighed, "Fine, I will tell you something. Yes, my parents died in battle. Yes, our race is in hiding. No, the Sithra and the humans do not know that. No, they cannot know that we are in hiding. Yes, Sam and I are on the run. Yes, our race knows we are on the run. Yes, being on the run is going to help and possibly save our race from being in hiding for the rest of earth's existence. I can tell you anything that will happen in the future if you would like to know, but all you truly need to know is that this war could put every single race in danger. We did not come searching for you and every other race to save ourselves; we came searching because it is the only way to keep peace on the earth between all of the races."
