God writes the most beautiful love stories
Says the woman that is stuck in la la land
Marrying the man she met
In the city of brotherly love
His love is more than brotherly
His love is husbandly
He made her realize who she is
Broken, undone, and reborn
Dismantling all the internal beliefs
Of everything she hates about herself
She smiles again with the genuineness
Of when she was fourteen and naive
Before hearts were broken and the questioning
Of whether she mattered had begun
Because she found love that saw right through
Her darkest fears and into the light within
Bringing out the real her that's meant to shine
God is writing my story by the day
Hopes the college girl that
Doesn't believe she is worth loving
She shines on her own
But runs away when he comes too close
She can't buy into the fantasy
Of surrendering to her emotions
God, how she wishes she could disappear
When his attention is too near
There is a truth she wishes to hide
Erase it from the world, pretend it doesn't exist
Invisibility is her greatest fear
But it's the blanket she uses for safety
When she wants to avoid his gaze
She is ashamed of showing her eyes
Worrying he will see right through her
How could anyone love her?
God will write my love story one day
Says the little girl that believes in love
Who dreams of a Prince Charming
That will treat her like the queen
She believes herself to be
Hoping for her own fairy tale ending
Not doubting once that God will be there
To write the perfect love story
