XAVIER ROMANO
A loud ringing sound floods my ears, I couldn't tell exactly what it was but it was loud. I looked down at Petra who was white as a ghost with confusion all over her face.
Then my eyes fell onto her hand that was up to her chest, where blood began seeping out, my heart stopped for a moment as she whispered, "Xavier."
As a Mafia boss, I've seen a lot of blood. I have shot and tortured multiple people, but seeing Petra's blood made my heart stop.
Snapping back into reality, I was able to catch her just in time as her body became limp. Petra collapsed into my arms, and I slowly placed us on the ground, with her hand still on her chest.
I began shaking my head in disbelief as I whispered to myself, "No."
Her blood is draining from her body and now painting the white roses beneath us red. As of right now, this very spot will remind me of the worst day of my existence.
I pulled Petra's body closer to me, with my legs underneath her as I sat on the ground, cradling her in my arms. I touch her back, before pulling my hand out that was now covered in her blood. Petra's eyes go wide as she looks at my hand.
My heart sank as I watched her reaction, everything had stopped at that moment. I wasn't paying attention to anyone else besides her.
"No, no, no," I muttered as I placed my hand over her bleeding chest, trying the best I could to stop the bleeding.
"What's happening to me, Xavier?" She asks, already knowing the answer to her question.
I wrap my arm back around her body and hold her tightly, "You're going to be okay, love, it's going to be okay, you'll be okay."
Petra begins shaking her head frantically as a tear slides down her face, "I just want to go home, please."
I nodded my head, "We're going to go home, love, I'll take you home." My own eyes start getting blurry with tears and I try to hold her still, "You're going to be okay."
"Everything hurts." She cries, as she looks up with teary eyes, "Please make it stop."
"You're okay, you'll be okay, love," I mumbled over and over again as a tear slid down my cheek, my gaze shifted from her bleeding wound to her as she just stared at me before placing her hand over mine.
She lets out a sigh, "Just hold me, please." She uttered quietly, "It's okay, Xavier."
Why is she reassuring me? She shouldn't be the one to reassure me, I should be the one to do that.
"Xavier, please just hold me." She quietly repeated I do as she said and wrapped my arm around her stomach as she rested her head on my leg.
I shake my head and whisper, "No, no, you can't leave me."
Petra struggles to breathe as she weakly lifts her hand to my cheek, "I love you, so much Xavier."
I shook my head at her words, but she continued, "Please, tell Ellie that I love her, and I wish I could've done better for her. I tried the best I could for her,"
I clench my jaw and hold her tightly, "Love, you'll be able to tell her that when you see her."
"Xavier, I can't." She whispers as she caresses my cheek softly, "I'm going to be okay."
I began to sob as I pulled her closer to me and I begged, "Please don't leave me, please."
"Save our babies," She whispers as blood begins dribbling out of her mouth, "I'll be okay, please take care of our kids."
