I got a call from June when we got home. I was unbuckling Kody's seatbelt when I felt my phone vibrate inside my back pocket. Kody stared at me when I paused to answer the phone instead of picking him up.

"Hello!" June's loud, high pitched scream pierced through my ears making me regret picking up the phone. Parrish glanced at me after he heard the scream and mouthed June's name with a smile on his face. I nodded and he went ahead to open the front door.

"Hi, June... How are you?" I picked Kody up, just to put him on the ground and let him walk inside the house. Needless to say, he did not like that and he was letting me know with the angry pout in his mouth.

"I'm great! I was wondering if Kody was up for a sleepover with the twins tonight? You know, since they're starting school together, I thought it might help Kody ease up into it if he has the girls with him telling him how nice it would be!"

"I don't know, June. Would this sleepover be taking place in my house or yours?"

A sleepover with June's kids doesn't sound bad but I'm sure that there's a catch.

June got pregnant right after she graduated and by none other than Miles. They had two beautiful but hyperactive beta girls that looked exactly like June but with Miles' black hair. Parrish was not happy but June and Miles are living their best lives. They got married when the girls turned two, they're three now and starting school with Kody tomorrow.

"Yours! Of course!" She informed me cheerfully.

There's the catch. She wants us to look after her demons.

"Ah-ha" I hummed, taking Kody's raincoat off, who was still pouting because I committed the terrible crime of not carrying him to the door. Parrish was in the doorway too, taking his shoes off.

"I'm just messing with you, Darius. You can drop him off later. Avery and Rae are dying to see Kody."

"I don't know, June. Are you sure that's a good idea?" I took Kody's boot off and he sprinted past Parrish into his room.

"Hey, don't run over people, midget." Parrish scolded him and turned to me when I leaned on the wall. We stayed there as I continued my conversation with June.

"Yeah! It'll be fun!" June said cheerfully. I bit my lip and a frown flew across Parrish's face.

"What's wrong?" He asked but I just shook my head, indicating to him to keep quiet for a second.

It's not that I don't trust June's parenting skills but the twins are a handful. They are as loud as they come and they never stop planning mischief. Kody isn't exactly an angel either. He cries and throws tantrums when things don't go as he wants. Also, I couldn't imagine missing Kody's first day of school.

"How are you gonna get three kids ready for school in the morning? And what if Kody starts-"

"Don't worry about any of that! Miles's gonna be here to help me with the kids and you can just come by in the morning to pick him up before school," she added, "and you won't miss his first day of school!"

"Darius, what is June saying?" Parrish grabbed my hand. His hand was soft and warm. He was close enough that I was able to pick the wine berries in his scent and the shaving cream he used.

"What- what time should I bring him over?"

"Around noon would be perfect!"

"Okay, we'll see you at noon then." I hung up and looked at Parrish.

"What was that about?" He asked.

I put my phone away to wrap my arms around his neck. "How do you feel about having the house all to ourselves tonight?"
