"Parrish! Look what I got from the store!" Darius came bursting through the front door like an excited puppy. I could hear all the plastic bags rifling with every heavy step he took, but I still didn't bother to get up from the couch and kept scrolling through my phone.
Since going back to his usual house omega activities, Darius discovered the joy of shopping, just like a house omega.
My working theory is that when he gets bored of home projects he goes shopping to find a new hobby, but he also comes back with new random trinkets. At least that's what I talked about with the girls. They think that he's stressing out without Kody to focus his attention on. I think he needs to get out of the house more.
"There you are, didn't you hear me calling?" Darius appeared in my line of vision from the hallway.
"Oh, sorry, puppy, I think I was zooming out." With no other choice but to pay attention to him I put my phone down and mentally prepared myself for a ten minute unboxing of useless things.
He squinted his eyes at me and huffed, "you should look up from your phone more often. It's a beautiful day outside."
"I know, puppy," I leaned in to kiss him, a dirty distracting technique but it works like a charm, "what did you buy?"
"Oh, right! Look at this." Darius dug into the bags and pulled out a teacup. But when he placed it on my hands I saw that it was a candle.
"It's... pretty." I twirled the cup in my hand, it was pretty but not the kind of useful thing he likes to buy, which was weird. The teacup was overly cutesy with flower patterns and gold details. It wasn't the usual kitchen or garden gadget.
"They're not just pretty, they're lotions! Give me your lighter." He held his hand out to me and I just blinked.
"This is a candle," I pointed out, "and I don't have a lighter."
"Come on, I know you and Kody smoke weed when I'm not here. Just give it to me, I'll show you."
I once again just blinked at him, trying to figure out if he was just bluffing. Kody and I made sure to wash our clothes as soon as we were done and we never smoked inside the house.
He looks pretty serious. I think he knows.
Seeing no other choice I dug under the cushions and pulled out the lighter. Darius didn't bat an eye and just grabbed it. He lit the candle and we waited until the wax melted.
"Now, don't freak out, I promise this won't hurt." Darius held the teacup-slash-candle over my bare skin but I didn't panic.
With all honesty, he could've been holding a knife and I would still have trusted him. So I just stayed still while he poured the melted wax over my skin, and he was right, it didn't hurt at all, and it smelled really nice. Like lavender.
Darius blew the candle and placed it back on the coffee table, then he rubbed the oil on my arm. It made my skin really soft but my mind was on something else.
"This is really kinky." I laughed.
"Kinky? Why? It's just lotion." He kept the lotion on my skin. "Oh! Is it because I'm giving you a massage?" He smiled like he just hit the nail.
Selene bless Darius' pure mind.
"Yeah, no, I mean, kinky in like, a safe wax play."
"What's wax play?" He tilted his head in that cute way he does when he's trying to figure something out. It really is adorable, like, does it make more sense in that 75° degree, love?
Maybe I'm the one who's messed up.
"Well, you might want to look that one up on the internet." I stood up and looked at the rest of the bags. "Hey, puppy, how many did you buy?" There were at least a dozen teacups in three separate paper bags.
