Parrish Interlude I
My face was pressed to Darius' neck. He smelled good, he always smelled so good when he was asleep. Just the plain lavender and nothing else.
He's warm too.
His arms were wrapped around me, it felt good to be back where I belonged, right next to my mate. After rubbing my face on his neck some more I pulled back to see Darius's sleeping face, it was calm and peaceful.
And probably wouldn't wake up even if a plane crashed here.
I chuckled and closed my eyes, nuzzling into him again. Things were starting to look better, we didn't really get a chance to talk last night but this was a start. Him letting me stay the night was great, the sex we had was great too.
You know what would be great? Being the little spoon.
That sounded like a great idea, so I turned, dragging Darius's arm with me and pressing my back against his naked chest. Upon turning, I met a pair of dark eyes that stared right into my soul, they were accompanied by a naughty little grin. It was Kody, kneeling on the floor with his arms folded under his chin.
"Good morning, papa." He said, the grin on his face growing bigger. He was still wearing his horrible sunflower pj's. His clothes had hit a terrible downgrade while I was gone.
But I'm here now, that can be fixed.
"Hello there midget." I smiled softly at him, reaching to mess his messy bed hair even more. "Why are you being so creepy so early in the morning?"
"What were you and daddy doing last night?" He leaned into my hand and his ears flickered with childish playfulness.
Oh gods, did he hear us?
"Are you hungry? Why don't you help me make breakfast? Daddy would be happy if we brought him breakfast to bed." I sat up, being grateful for Darius' obsession with cleaning up right after sex. I saw my clothes neatly folded on the nightstand, but I grabbed one of his shirts from the closet instead. I wasn't ready to let go of his scent yet.
"Okay!" He nodded, happily grabbing my hand when I offered it to him as we walked out of the room.
Finding my way around the kitchen was a little difficult. Things were moved, the pots and spoons weren't where they used to be. I felt lost not knowing where everything was but it was fine. It wasn't like I expected everything to be exactly the same as I left it and Kody was there to give me a hand. He was an exceptional little helper.
Exceptional at sitting there looking cute while I did all the cooking.
But that's what he's supposed to do. He's a cub, my cub.
He was sitting on the counter telling me all about Darius OCD in the kitchen while I struggled with some scrambled eggs on the stove.
"And now daddy arranges all condiments by their plant family, which I think it's silly and I keep telling him that no one's gonna know that the oregano goes with mint and basil because they're all from the 'lamiaceae' family but he won't listen to me."
You can take the farmer out of the farm but never the farm out of the farmer.
I laughed, "yeah, that sounds like daddy..."
Kody calling Darius daddy was something that threw me off the first few times he said it. Because he still calls him mom but only when he's in the room with us. The things he says and does to make Darius happy are quite impressive. I never expected a seven year old to be so understanding of people's feelings.
