Things have been extra busy. There's an art competition coming up at Kody's school and he's been staying there late. We were a little short on money because he kept using his art materials without care, and instead of correcting him I just kept buying him more.
Parrish was not happy about it. He had to take an extra shift because of that, it was just temporarily but I felt like I wasn't seeing him at all. Same with Kody. But it was fine, we still had breakfast together, because I made sure they never left without eating.
Not today apparently.
I had just set the pancakes on the table when Parrish's hand came into view, grabbing one.
"It's hot."
Parrish ignored my warning and shoved it into his mouth. "Oh, shit! That's hot." He hissed.
"What did I just say?" I rolled my eyes. He grabbed another one and repeated the process before going for the bottle juice in the fridge. "Parrish, what's going on with you?" I took it before he could drink straight from it.
I handed him a glass, pouring some juice. He snatched the glass from my hand like a hungry animal and drank it all in one big gulp.
"Sorry, haven't you seen the time? We're late." He said, wiping the corners of his mouth. "Kody! Get down already! We're late!"
"I'm coming!" Kody shouted.
Parrish turned to the table and started shoving in as many pancakes as he could.. I blinked at him. Parrish takes the car and drops Kody at school since I go into work later but it was way too early.
"It's six thirty."
"Kody didn't tell you? He needs to be there at seven today." He spoke with his mouth full of pancakes. A sight I didn't need to see so early in the morning.
"What? No, why?"
"They're letting the kids go in early to work on their projects for the competition. Kody! Move it!"
"I said I'm coming!"
"Watch your tone!"
Why are they yelling?
I sat down, taking my glasses off to rub my neck. "Please stop yelling."
"Sorry, puppy." He spoke in a more acceptable tone this time.
"It's fine." I didn't mean to sigh or sound so miserable but I couldn't help it. My neck was killing me.
"Hey," Parrish grabbed my hand over the table, "are you okay? You're not mad he didn't tell you, right? He probably just forgot."
"No, yeah, I'm fine. I think I slept in a bad position."
He stood up, getting behind me to kneed at my shoulders. "Does it hurt a lot?"
"No, that helps. No, wait, that does hurt." I winced when his hand went up my shoulder, at the curve of my neck. Right over my mating gland.
"Sorry, that last bite hasn't healed yet. I think I didn't seal it right." He gently trailed his fingers over my skin. I felt his warm breath before his tongue gave a tentative lick.
Oh, yeah, that's the stuff.
I sighed and tilted my head to give him more space. It felt good, like a cold drink on a hot day. I wanted more but Parrish moved back.
"It doesn't look good, I think it's infected."
Infected my ass, he just has to give it a good lick.
"It felt good when you licked it." I said, looking up at him.
"Darius, if it didn't seal right the first time I shouldn't be messing with it." Parrish sighed and shook his head.
