two.The restaurant wasn't any good and Lily was a damn liar. I wasn't interested in eating in the first place, but when she offered to pay for my side of the bill I was all for it. She failed to tell me that their version of American food was macaroni and cheese or a corndog.
We left after I told her that it was a disappointment and she nodded a ton and apologized. After that, she suggested that we take an earlier ferry so we could get to the island. Of course I didn't deny her.
I looked out the window of her Phantom, observing the passing buildings and lights. In New York it'd be like three AM considering it was two hours ahead of Costa Rican time. There wasn't much of a difference between the two cities except for the fact that New York never slept.
"How far are we?" I found myself asking. I didn't take my attention from the nightlife.
"About five more minutes," Lily answered. I could tell from her voice that I was starting to get to her, which was good on my part. If she tried to yell at me all I had to do was tell my mom and she'd stop getting dresses, and that meant her website would be shut down. Maybe she'd lose this car, too. It was a pretty nice one. It'd be a shame.
I didn't reply and just kept staring out the window. Usually when people went to a new area they took pictures or wanted to savor the moment, but I could really care less at this point. All I wanted to do was get to the damn ferry and onto the water.
The city slowly turned into beach and I sat up straighter, looking around the area. We were getting closer to the boarding dock. I grabbed my phone from my purse and texted Lindsey.
hows new york without me?
sucks! i'm at liam's
I raised an eyebrow. Why would she be at Liam's house? I suddenly remembered the pool party he asked me to go to and I groaned. Lily looked at me from the corner of my eye, but I was too focused typing my response to glare at her.
why would you be at his place? he's an idiot
pool party, duh! he dropped his phone in the pool earlier, you should've seen it
i thought you were at dinner with your dad
After that she stopped replying. I huffed and shoved my phone back into my purse, just in time to see the dock. Lindsey was a backstabbing bitch.
Since it was one in the morning the line to get on board wasn't that long. I noticed that a lot of people in line looked a bit older. There weren't many kids. Just my luck, I don't have to listen to endless crying and possible babies shitting themselves.
"I'll get your bags," Lily said to me as soon as she parked the car. I didn't reply and got out, slinging my purse over my shoulder. I walked over to the loading deck and was greeted by one of the workers.
"Hello, young lady!" The man grinned and I raised an eyebrow. He was way too peppy for this time of night. "Can I ask how old you are?"
"Why do you need to know that?" I asked, my eyebrow still raised. He was way too old for me.
"So I can see if you require an adult supervisor or not," He was still grinning. I rolled my eyes.
"I don't need one, thank you." I said cooly. The man looked offended but I continued."I'm old enough to watch over myself-"
"I'm her supervisor," Lily came up behind me and the worker nodded. God, I hated this woman. She handed him a pass and he gestured us onto the loading deck.
