ELEVEN- Finding out the truth

"Wake up Princess we're here." Clarisse said as she stood up, causing Mae to fall into the window. Clarisse laughed as she held her hand out to her. Mae gave her a mean look but took her hand, letting her pull her up.

"Where are we?" She asked her while she stood up and stretched, cracking her back. Clarisse looked around as they got off of the bus before she looked back at Mae with a small smile. "Texas. The land of cowgirls." She teased causing Mae to give her a look. Cowgirls definitely were not her type at all.

Clarisse though....

"Yeah I don't know how I feel about that." She said as she shook her head and looked around.

"Yeah well we don't need to get on track for the museum until tomorrow so we're staying at that hotel tonight. We can stop at a store so you can buy your shampoo or whatever. You look like you refuse to use hotel shampoo." Mae smiled. She thought it was adorable how Clarisse just instantly knew that she wouldn't use the terrible shampoo.

Mae nodded quickly which Clarisse laughed at.

"And you won't either. It's so bad for your hair and you have beautiful hair." Mae said as she reached up and played with one of the coils. Clarisse smacked her hand away but when she saw the confused look, Clarisse sighed and pulled her hand back. Mae smiled widely as Clarisse let her play with her hair.

They both loved the way it made them feel.

"Okay you lesbo freaks, can we go before you jump each others bones?" Gaiges voice interrupted.

Mae rolled her eyes as she dropped her arm. Every single find she was getting somewhere with Clarisse, Gaige would ruin it completely. She would need to wait for actually make her move till he wasn't around.

"Watch it King, you know I'm not above smacking that stupid perm out of your hair." Clarisse threatened. He was really starting to piss her off.

Mae sighed as Clarisse grabbed her hand and pulled her away.

Mae and Clarisse walked through the isles of the store, occasionally throwing things into the basket.

"You should do your hair after your shower. It would look really cute." She grinned.

Clarisse smiled as she looked at her.

Clarisse had a plan and she was positive that Gaige wouldn't be able to interrupt this time.

Mae could feel Clarisse watching her but ignored it as she rounded a corner, someone running directly into her causing her to drop the basket.

Clarisse caught her before she could fall and glared at the little girl that bumped into Mae. Mae looked down at the little girl with a confused look. She knew her somewhere.... her eyes looked so familiar and her face shape was the exact same as hers.

Mae looked at her confused. She knew this little girl. She wasn't sure how but... she did.

The little girls eyes widened as she looked at her.

"You're her!" She said as she stood up straight. When she talked, Mae and Clarisse saw that her two front teeth were missing and she had a lisp.
Mae looked at her confused as she kneeled down in front of her.

"What do you mean kiddo?" She asked with a smile. The little girl pointed behind her and Mae turned around and her heart dropped.

That's why she was so familiar. The face shape, the eye shape and color. They were all her dads.

"Maeve I-" She stood up and shook her head instantly while her eyes watered. Her dad had a young daughter.

"Ryan, Honey what are you doing?" A woman's voice questioned.

Mae's jaw clenched.

Her dad had a whole other family.

"Maeve wait!" Ryan said as Clarisse stood in front of her, while she backed away a bit in disbelief.

Mar could hearing Clarisse yelling but she couldn't hear her.

Her dad had moved across the country to hide from her because he thought he would never see her again and he moved on quick as hell with his new, or old family. She sat the basket down and walked away from whatever was happening, rushing outside.

Her chest felt impossibly tight and she could barely breathe.

Her dad had a whole other family and he didn't tell her. And that's when she realized that he didn't tell her because he was keeping them safe. From her.

Mae was hyperventilating when she felt someone grab onto her.

She blinked a few times and saw that Clarisse was looking at her while Gaige awkwardly stood behind them awkwardly holding a bag.

"Come on, let's get you to the hotel."

Mae nodded and instantly hugged Clarisse. Clarisse was shocked but wrapped her arms around the girl, rubbing her back soothingly.

"Come on beautiful, let's get you to the hotel you need to rest." Clarisse said as she pulled away from the hug before she gently pulled her to the direction of their hotel.
