*Chapter 6*
*Alli*
Six months later
"I can't believe that we graduate tomorrow," I said, jumping up and down in excitement.
"Quit jumping; you're going to hurt the baby!" Macy reminded me.
I was six months pregnant. When I realized I was a few weeks late, I rushed to the closest drugstore for a test. The two-minute wait was torture. Macy paced the room like it was her test. I remembered grinning.
When the timer had gone off, I rushed to see the results. Macy right behind me.
"Two blue lines," Omg, you're pregnant," Macy yelled excitedly.
"Baby, calm down; you're shaking my baby in there," Nick said, kissing my stomach. "How's daddy's, little man?" He cooed to my belly, making me smile.
"Did your mom send you bouncing around in there?" He asked, the baby kicking, making him laugh.
"Don't worry, and I got your back." He whispered to the, baby-making me laugh.
I was running around trying to get my things together so we could go.
"Are you about ready to go? Your parents are going to be meeting us at the school." He reminded me.
"Yup!" I said, grabbing my bag and a snack for the road, "Macy, let's go!" I yelled.
*Nick*
I cheered as Alli walked across the stage, glowing from pregnancy. I thought with a smile.
"We did it, Nick! We finished!" Alli said, jumping into my arms. I couldn't describe how happy she made me; she and our baby were everything to me.
I loved waking up to her beautiful face in the morning. I was lucky to have her as my wife; she doted on me, and I knew even though a part of her would always love Matthew, she loved me just as much.
We went to dinner with Alli's parents and then returned here. Mark said he wanted to talk to us about something.
The whole ride home, I wondered what it could be.
We all sat in the living room and waited for Mark to Speak.
"Nick, we need you guys to come home." Mark notified us.
"No way!" Alli yelled.
"Dad, I don't want to go back." She pleaded.
"Love, remember the baby. He feels when you're upset," I told her, taking her hand in mine.
"Alli, I know this will be hard for you. But Nick's dad's health hasn't been good, so Nick's parents didn't make it to the graduation. So I need Nick to take over the position of Beta," he apprised us.
"Is this true?" Alli asked, looking me in the eyes.
"Yes," I replied.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked, holding my gaze.
"I didn't want to put you under unwanted stress," I stated truthfully.
"He's your dad, Nick. I would never be able to live with myself if something happened to him and you weren't there with him." She said quietly.
"We have to go back."
"Are you sure?" I asked, pulling her onto my lap.
"Yes, as long as I have you, I'll be okay," she said, resting her head on my chest.
