Chapter 51
"Allisara!" I call out into the dark. It had been a while since I heard her call out my name and I am beginning to grow frantic. The lights flickered on suddenly, the ball room filled with cowering Nobles. I look everywhere for her, spying the man she danced with on the floor with a bloodied nose. Rushing over to the man, I kneel beside him and look over his injuries.
"Where is she?" I demand after making sure that his nose isn't broken.
"I don't know where she is. I went to grab her to keep her safe and the next thing I know I have a fist flying into me and a bloodied nose." The man answers. Standing to my feet, I look around the ball room once more. Three songs. Three dances. She promised me that and then the rest of the night she would be mine. Now she was gone.
"Sky!" Turning to the sound of my name, I catch Alice and Mika rush towards me through the crowd.
"Alice. She's gone." I mutter out, panicking.
"Sky, it was Juden's men. They knocked the power out. Arian has the army surrounding the city. No one else has power but us." She reaches me, grabbing onto my arm and forcing me to stop pacing. I take a deep breath as her words sink in and take a moment to calm my panicking mind.
"Zalaris is out of power?" I ask, confused. How could the city loose their power.
"Yes. The generators for the Palace turned on as soon as we made it to the ballroom. We have guards securing the Palace as we speak now." I nod, feeling my thoughts calm down as I look around the room.
"Alice, you are in charge while I am gone. Everette and Lillian will help you. Mika, grab Alec and the twins. We are going after Allisara." I order. Alice nods, going in search of Allisara's grandparents.
"Where should we meet you?" Mika asks as we march out of the ballroom, the two of us nodding to a set of guards as they let us out.
"Stables. This is a stealth mission and horses are the only option. Meet me there in ten minutes and I want all of you dressed in black and armed." Reaching the stairs I pause to look at Mika, seeing a grim look in his eyes.
"We will get her back, Sky." He reassures me. I say nothing. This is the third time someone took Allisara from me and I will make sure it is my last. I rush up the stairs and race towards my room, the Maids and Butlers jumping out of my way and I send an apology over my shoulder. Reaching my door, I enter my room and grab the closest black outfit I have from the closet. My phone rings as I pull the vest over my shoulder and I reach for it.
"This is Captain Sky of the Violet Guards." I answer, my phone snugged between my ear and shoulder as I grab my weapons and place them into their holsters.
"It's Max. The prisoners are secured but the security cameras aren't working properly right now. It will take some time rebooting them." I nearly throw my phone in anger as I take a deep breath. Fucking great. Allisara is missing, cameras are down and our men are already stretched thin.
"Call Alice and ask her to send you as many men as you need. Keep us posted on the situation in the dungeons." I state before hanging up. Right now I can't have any distractions. I need to find my girlfriend. Walking to my dresser, I grab the black box and open it, taking out the watch that will help me find her. Turning it on, a small light appears and I sigh with relief. She still has the bracelet on.
"Hang on Alli, I'll find you." I whisper. Leaving my room, I take the servant's stair way as a short cut to the stables. This was like her fifth birthday all over again when bandits had taken her for ransom. She had been smart though and had taken off the beaded necklace I gave her and used the beads as a clue. No one noticed it. No one but me. I tried to get people to follow me, to find her but they all were busy searching the Palace. So I snuck away.
I found her, shivering with fear in a shack up in the northern woods. Had managed to get her back home safely without help. We were soaking wet from the rain but she was safe. It turned out her cousin and her friends has pushed Allisara outside after the King and Queen announced her betrothal to Demitrias.
I reach the stables just as Mika comes out with Noir's - my black Arabian - reigns in his grip. He silently hands them to me as Alec, Lia and Mia mount their horses, each one of the Violet Guards dressed in black with guns strapped to their legs.
"Where too?" Mika asks as I mount Noir, Mika doing the same.
"East." I hold up my hand to show the tracker on the watch, Mika letting out a low whistle impressed by the technology.
"How much did that cost you?" Alec asks, steering his horse beside mine.
"Nearly all of my savings." I admit.
"But it was worth it now that we can find her. So lets go get Allisara." I nudge my horse into a gallop, taking the lead as we rush towards the eastern side of Zalaris. The Palace grounds are lit, acting like a beacon in the dark city. Alice was right, Zalaris has no power. The streets are thankfully empty, the Army, City police and Guards doing their best to help the citizens find their way home.
We race past the city limits and into the eastern forest, the dot on the tracker is still moving, and moving fast, and it makes me wonder just where Juden's men are taking her. I am glad I decided to take the horses as the dot changes course and we follow. I can tell with how big the dot grows that we are getting closer and soon Allisara will be saved. Suddenly the dot stops moving and I motion to everyone to stop.
"What is it?" Mia asks, bringing Opal her horse next to mine.
"The stopped moving." I show the watch to her and she stares at it for a moment before motioning for Lia to join us.
"Dad used to take us hunting in this are. Isn't there a shack just up ahead?" She asks her twin. I turn to show Lia the watch and after studying it, she turns to Mia.
"We need to scout the area. She must be at the shack." I sigh with relief at Lia's words and tell them to be careful. The twins climb off of their horses and hand their reigns to Alec before they slink off into the shadows up ahead. Now we wait.
