CHAPTER FOUR: The Decision

Byron

"He said what?!!!!!" Tirso exclaimed after I told him what the old geezer said to me.

I am sitting infront of my tv watching NBA when Tirso came to visit.

"Sigurado ka ba dun dude?" Tirso asks as he handed me an ice cold beer from the fridge.

"Yep." I said then I open the can and took a gulp of beer. I savour as the cold liquid goes down my throat.

"So anong sinabi mo?" he asks as he sits beside me.

"Of course I said no! Ayokong matali. Marriage are for losers." sagot kay Tirso.

"Ano namang sinabi ni Tito?"

Natahimik ako bigla as I recall my conversation with dad.

"You said you have no plans of falling in love so why don't we just use that for business purposes. Marry for the sake of the company instead Byron." my dad said.

"That's preposterous dad! Ayokong matali! I want my freedom!" I exclaimed.

I am so used to this life na sarili ko lang ang iniisip ko. Getting married means a whole lot more of responsibilities for me which I don't plan of having.

My dad clears his throat. "Then you leave me with no choice but to disown you." he said.

"What?!!!! Are you crazy?!!!! I am your only son! You can't do that to me!" I shouted at him.

"Of course I can and I have your mother's permission as well. So choose Byron. Marry or be disowned?"

"Fuck!!!!!!" I shouted nagulantang tuloy si Tirso.

"Ano ba yan dude?! You startled me! Why did you shout?!" Tirso exclaims.

"I have to marry." I said as I lowered my head and covered my face with my hands.

"I thought you said awhile ago that marriage are for losers?" natatawang tanong sa akin ni Tirso.

I gulp all my beer down and throw the can. I wipe my mouth.

"It's better than being penniless." I said grimly to Tirso.

"So who's the unlucky girl?"

I clench my jaw. "Some girl named Yanny Montecristo."

Biglang nanlaki yung mga mata ni Tirso.

"Are you fucking serious Byron?!" he said.

"Why? Do you know her?" I ask Tirso. He looks so excited.

"I haven't seen that Yanny but her two older sisters are hot!" Tirso replied then he showed me pictures of two hot woman which he googled on his phone.

"Kahit siguro mahal ko ang kalayaan ko pakakawalan ko na yun kung ganito naman katindi mapapangasawa ko dude! My nights wouldn't be the same again." Tirso said and clearly he is imaging dirty things in his mind right now.

"Hindi naman sila yung Yanny." I said with a snarl.

"But genes don't lie man! I am one hundred percent sure na kasing hot ng mga kapatid nya yung mapapangasawa mo."

I look at Tirso's phone again. He is right.

Maybe getting married is not a bad idea afterall.

Yanny

"Ashoooo!" I sneezed so loud napatingin tuloy lahat nung tao sa akin da loob ng coffee shop.

"Allergies?" Aly asks.
