Yanny

I slump on my chair and close my eyes. Katatapos pa lang nung shoot ko. Sa sobrang pagod ang sakit tuloy ng ulo ko.

"Yanny! Let's eat." Aly said when she entered my office.

"Wala akong gana kumain." I said in a weak voice. Aly pulled me up from my chair.

"Lagi na lang ganyan ang sagot mo. I won't take no for answer this time." She stubbornly said as she pushes me out of my office.

I rub my aching temples while we are inside the elevator.

"You look horrible Yans. You should look at yourself in the mirror. Masyado ka kasing workaholic. You should take some rest. Go out on a vacation." Payo ni Aly.

"I have no time for that. Puno ang schedule ko Aly." I said then the elevator door opens and we both step out into the canteen.

I stared at all the food on the counter. Nothing looks tasty. Sa itsura pa lang nila they all seem bland to me. I ended up picking the fruit salad.

"Geesh friend! Yan lang ang kakainin mo?" Aly said pag-upo namin.

"I told you wala akong gana diba?"

Suddenly napatingin ako sa tv when I heard a familiar voice. It was Byron. He was being interviewed by the press about the expansion of their business abroad.

I look back at my food and just played with it. It's been two months since I last saw him. I heard he went abroad. I guess kauuwi pa lang nya ngayon.

"He looks okay now." Aly's voice disrupted my thoughts. "Kamusta pala yung annulment case nyo?"

"Attorney Hervana said the decision will come out anytime soon." I replied.

"Bakit hindi mo pa hinuhubad yang wedding ring mo?" Aly asks while pointing at the ring on my hand.

"Hangga't wala pa yung desisyon ng korte kasal pa rin ako kay Byron, Aly." I replied. Minsan di ko din maintindihan sa sarili ko why I am still wearing this ring. I try to convince myself na wala pa namang desisyon ng korte kaya suot ko pa din ito pero minsan it felt like I still want to feel somehow connected and related to Byron Arevalo.

"If you say so." Aly said with a shrug then she continued eating.

When I got home sobrang hinang hina ako. I guess Aly is right. I am overworking myself. Work is the only thing that is keeping my mind off Byron. I am not over him. Hindi pala madaling i-unlove ang isang tao.

Pagpasok ko sa bahay my sisters and Attorney Hervana are on the living room. They all look at me.

"Yans we are glad you are home already. Attorney Hervana has some news for you." Ate Tere said. Attorney Hervana handed me an envelope. I open it and started reading the letter inside.

"Congratulations Yanny. Your marriage to Byron Arevalo is already declared null and void by the court." Attorney Hervana said while shaking my hand.

I don't know how long I am staring at the letter on my hand.

The thought finally sinks in. I am no longer Byron's wife. I look at my wedding ring.

"Salamat po Attorney ako na po ang maghahatid sa inyo sa labas." Ate Tere said ng hindi ako umimik then she accompanied the lawyer out of the house. Ate Claudia approaches me and lifted my chin up. She wipes away my tears.

"Mahal mo pa sya." She said making me cry even more.

It's over. I am officially no longer part of Byron's life. He had moved on but I am still stuck in the past pretending to be alright. Suddenly the whole place started spinning then it all turns black.
