Drip, drip, drop...

Droplet of rain fell continuously from the clouded sky; the sound of heavy rain fall makes it difficult to hear anything other than the sound of the rain dropping in the small puddles of water.

The streets were cleared of civilians as the common people all ran into their homes to take shelter from the heavy rain.

However, there was a small boy who seems to be roughly 11 years old standing in the middle of the rain with his clothes completely wet.

His most distinguish features were his bright blond hair which was slightly damp by the rain and his ocean blue eyes.

He had a daze expression on his face as he stared into the direction of his parents who were both laying on the ground covered with blood.

The boy gritted his teeth and clench his fist, helplessly there was nothing he could do. His parents were both ruthlessly murdered by the nobles who came to collect taxes.

He was from an extremely poor family his parents earn money by farming however they weren't able to get earning by farming this year as a result the nobles executed them for not being able to pay their taxes on time.

"Why?" The boy muttered looking at the bodies of his parents who were laying at the corner of the sidewalk their blood mixing with the rainwater turning the puddle a deep shade of red.

The passerby's all adverted their gaze from his predicament as no one wanted to get involved into things that isn't of their concern.

He then slowly held the body of his mother in his arms, her face was paler than he remembered her skin was cold her original motherly warmth he had felt his entire life could no longer be felt.

With his unsteady hands he removed the strand of her deep blue hair that was covering her beautiful face.

There was blood around her mouth corner there was also a large quantity of blood pouring from her chest where she was stabbed.

The boy made a pained face thinking back on the face his mother made during her final moments.

The boy turned his gazed towards the body of his father that had many stabbed wounds a cross his entire body laying a short distance away his blond hair was greatly disheveled and soaked covering parts of his face.

"Why were they taken from me?" he muttered out loud in a tone deprived of emotion. He felt pain anger and emptiness all of those emotions became a storm inside his chest.

It wasn't fair why did he had to lose his mother? Why did he had to lose his father? If this world is just going to take away the things precious to him then he refused to acknowledge this world.

He refused to acknowledge the people living in this world, this world wasn't worth living in remembering the event that played out he thinks the people of this world are nothing but a bunch of selfish fools who only care about themselves. He then looked around and saw that there were only a few people left in the district.

They all watch as he hugged his mother's body in his arm however no one made the effort to help him they all stood there watching the situation curiously, judging by their reaction something like this was probably common, anyone who can't pay their taxes were all mercilessly executed by high ranked nobles.

In this world humans are on the verge of extinction by monstrous creatures that came in all shapes and sizes.

The humans of this world fight against them by using powerful sword that each has their own unique abilities, however not every human can use these type of swords as they are the ones who choose their owner, the knight fight these monsters in order to protect the citizens of each nation on the continent.

The citizens are expected to pay compensation in the form of taxes for each nation the payment differs however in this Kingdom the payment goes towards the Knights fighting on the front lines as they lay their lives for their Kingdom but most of the money goes towards the Royal family.

Who ensures their protection from the Kingdom those who are not able to pay lose the protection of the nation and is branded as a heretic and are to be executed by the government while the wealthy were able to pay their compensation without trouble the less fortunate ones are all mercilessly killed by the Knights.

Unfortunately, the boy was still too young to understand this as he curst the ones who had taken the happiness away from him.

"Why don't you come with me?" a masculine voice called out to him from behind. The boy slowly turns his head to the source of the voice and saw an elderly man who seem to be in his lates thirty. He had short refined brown hair.

He was standing while holding a small umbrella over his head.

The man wore clothing of high quality. He then stood at a close proximity of the boy and fixed the umbrella to a position where the boy wouldn't get wet by the heavy rain.

"Will you come with me?" The man said repeating his earlier question while given a fixed stare at the blonde hair boy who was sitting on the ground.

The boy gave a look of cautiousness not knowing the true intention of the man before him, he didn't answer his question instead he stared at the man blankly.

The man showed a faint smile before kneeling down facing the boy he then tried covering up the body of his mother, however the boy shoved away his hand refusing to allow his mother to be touch.

The man's eyes widen faintly by surprise. "Don't touch her." he said glaring at the man.

"I'm not going to hurt her." He said while putting on a friendly atmosphere he then wraps the body of the woman inside a plastic bag before doing the same to the man laying a short distance away.

He then once again stands before the boy and offered him his hand showing a kind smile on his face. The boy looked at his outstretched hand before slowly offering his own.

"Do you have a name?" The man asks the blonde-haired boy in a gentle tone. The boy took a deep breath before answering his question. With an emotionless tone the boy replied.

"Kenta Logan."
