As they strolled side by side, Mercedes remained lost in thought, her silence catching Coriolanus' attention.
"What's on your mind?" he asked, curious about her pensive demeanour.
"Just thinking about tomorrow. I can't help but wonder if he'll find me worthy," she responded, referring to her tribute.
Coriolanus let out a chuckle, "Well, at least you didn't draw one from District Twelve. I might as well say goodbye to the Plinth prize."
Mercedes grinned in wanting as they hastened their pace, happy to return home to their grandma'am and Tigris.

They were hit with a wonderful smell as soon as they walked through the door.
"Mmm, grandma'am, what are you making?" Mercedes shouted out. She got no response but that wasn't new. She walked into the kitchen, Coriolanus closing the door behind them.
She crouched down and looked into the oven. There were eight jacket potatoes in it on a tray. On the burner was a pot of beans being cooked.
"Smells nice, right?" Tigris spoke, popping her head into the kitchen. She smiled at Michaela, "Where's Corio?" She asked, not seeing him.
"Probably went straight to his room." She replied, shrugging.
"Oh, okay. By the way, who got the Plinth prize? I bet it was you or Corio." She exclaimed.
"Nobody won it. Not yet, anyway. We have to do one more challenge and that challenge is that we have to mentor a tribute for the Hunger Games. We have to get our tribute to win."
Tigris nodded, "Oh, wow." Mercedes nodded, "Yep."
Mercedes looked over at her grandma'am who was taking the tray out of the oven. She placed the tray on a nearby counter, took two potatoes off and placed them on a plate. She did the same for every potato before she poured beans over the potatoes. She then sprinkled bits of cheese over them.
"Corio! Dinner's ready!" Mercedes yelled out at him. Tigris picked up her plate and brought it to their dining table. Mercedes took her grandma'ams plate and placed it down for her, she then went back into the kitchen. She bumped into Coriolanus who caught her and stared at her.
"Anyway." She said out loud and grabbed her plate, ignoring him.
They sat down together and ate the food, "Thank you for making us this meal, grandma'am." Mercedes thanked her to which her grandma'am just smiled at.

Mercedes was awakened by her brother shaking her, the next day, "What time is it?", he replied, "7 AM." She hit him in the shoulder. "Why'd you wake me up so early?"
He groaned and rubbed his shoulder, "I'm going to see my tribute, Lucy-Gray, I wanted to know if you'd want to come." She looked at him, wary.
"Is that even allowed?" She raised one of her eyebrows.
"They didn't say it wasn't allowed." He shrugged his shoulders to which she groaned and replied, "Fine." "Get dressed." He spoke before he walked out and closed the door behind him.
She got dressed into her hideous red uniform and walked into the kitchen, grabbing an apple. "Coriolanus?" She called out, he walked into the kitchen. "Get something to eat, I'm not hungry."
"No, leave it for grandma'am." He replied, turning away from the food. "Coriolanus, at least have an apple." She passed him her apple, he didn't realise that it was hers.
