(Harry's POV)
I sat forward impatiently, "Sam, can you go faster?" My voice was purposefully gentle, knowing she was a little over whelmed. I was grateful for her to be following Jeremy and me—I only had to wait about seven minutes for her to reach me. She was shaken when I told her what happened. Honestly, she wasn't the most ideal person to have in a moment of intensity like this, but I'll have to make due.
I'd called Niall and Louis, telling them to leave with Lyn and Cop, and follow through with—what was left of—the plan. I didn't bother telling them that I was improvising with how to get Baz and Al from Al's house, there was no point. Besides, my part of the plan is the only thing needed to be salvaged; everyone else, apart from Al and Baz, is safe and hopefully on their way to the train station.
"Harry, I'm...not too comfortable going too fast...I'm going fast already." I looked in the rearview mirror, squinting at the silver car behind us. Is that the same silver car from ten minutes ago? Surely someone wouldn't be stupid enough to follow us in an easy to see silver car.
"Get on the highway," I quietly ordered. She complied quietly, driving at an unsettling slower pace than I'm used to. As I suspected, the silver car followed us the whole way, staying close behind us. "Sam, go faster. Someone's following us."
"WHAT?" She shrieked.
I whipped around to look at her, "Don't panic, please. I really need you right now and I can't have you freaking out on me, okay?" She glanced at me before gulping down her nerve and stepping on the gas. Both of us were pressed into the backs of our seats as the car shot off. I checked the mirror and saw we'd created some distance between us and the silver car. "Weave through the traffic." Sam maneuvered the car to the left, as she switched two lanes over. Someone obnoxiously blew their horn, agitating me. None of these people know what was happening. They were just trying to get home to their families or to the next party—they're the lucky ones. I looked in the mirror, happy to see the silver car was no longer in sight.
"Follow these cars off," I said. Sam was still breathing heavily once we got onto residential streets. "Sam, breathe." I mumbled, fishing my phone out. None of the lads called me so I assumed everything was okay—I have to if I want to keep a clear mind. They were probably all at the train station, waiting. Maybe I should tell them to go without me, just so their out of town with the girls and away from all this danger and stress.
"You know the way to Al's house?" Sam nodded. "You're okay." I whispered soothingly. I placed my hand on her shoulder rubbing my thumb over her tense muscles, trying to calm her down. The very last thing I need right now is to die in a car crash because she couldn't handle the pressure.
Minutes passed before we reached the familiar streets of Al's neighborhood. As we eased in front of her house, I got the same feeling I had in the alley way. Something was amiss, but as I glanced around, I couldn't point out exactly what was wrong. The street was empty, most of her elderly neighbors probably sleeping. I peered into the partially opened curtain window, thinking I saw it move. Was there someone there?
Sam sensed my tension, looking around herself. "Should I honk or something?"
"No, don't make any noise." I whispered. I stared at the curtain—it definitely moved that time.
A hand suddenly stuck out, waving to me. I let out a breath as I recognized Baz's ringed fingers, her face only faintly visible in the dark house. The front door opened and Baz disappeared from the window and she and Al came running towards the car.
"Be ready to drive, Sam." I stated turning forward in the seat. She glanced nervously at me, but I gave her a reassuring nod. Al and Baz opened the back door, before slamming it closed. "Go, Sam." Her hands shook as she griped the wheel pulling out of her parking spot. Before we could get very far, I got that feeling again. I looked carefully out of my window as Sam drove too slowly through the neighborhood. I spoke distractedly to her, "C'mon Sam, speed up—"
