I frowned, turning her face back to mine and looked at her seriously. “No, Aubri. I do not want to break up with you. I want you to be safe; that’s all I want.” All the emotion was gone from her face as she stared at me blankly. I’ve just single handedly ruined her day. “Do you understand? I’m going to do everything I can to protect you.”

“How long have they been telling you this…?”

“Since the fashion show.”

She looked away from me again, back to the ocean, her face still blank..“I knew something happened.” She whispered.

“Nothing happened exactly. The people in charge of the London part of the club just said I should keep an eye on you…because they knew this would be coming….” She didn’t say anything. “We’re going to stay together Aubri. I’m gonna make sure we do, even though it’ll be hard. That’s what you want, right?” She nodded. A good minute passed before she even looked at me. I tensed when I saw the fear in her eyes.

“Don’t let them get me, Harry.” She said softly. “I’m actually kind of scared…but I’m…trusting you.”

I sighed, “I’m sorry I dragged you into this…”

Her face completely changed as she shook her head. She grabbed my hand and frowned at me, “Harry, I would’ve jumped into it if it meant I could stay with you.” My eyes widened. Is she telling me she would risk her life just to be with me? Her face flushed pink as she hide behind her hands. “Ignore that. I didn’t say it.”

“Would you really, Aubri?”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Seriously, Aubri, I need to know.”

She sighed and dropped her hands from her face, “Yeah, Harry. I really would; I wouldn’t even second guess it…or question it. I would just—” She was talking about me like she was talking about Jesus or something she felt lucky to even see up close. Little does she know, it’s the other way around; I’m the lucky one. My attention drifted from what she was saying as I got caught up looking over her face again, still disappointed in myself for never telling her she’s beautiful.

I leaned in kissing her gently. There was no tongue or roaming hands, it was just an innocent kiss. I pulled away, resting my forehead against hers and looking into her deep green eyes.

“Aubri you know what I realized?” I said absentmindedly.

“What?”

“I’ve never told you how beautiful you are” She looked down at our hands, and I could tell something just happened to her; in her head. “You’ve noticed that too, haven’t you?”

“No, I just…don’t think I am…”

“Who says you’re not beautiful?” I said angrily..

“I do.” She mumbled.

I frowned, “What’s not beautiful about you Aubri? Tell me, because I think I’m missing it.” She lifted an eyebrow at me like I was joking around or lying to her.

“I’m skinny, I’ve got small boobs, I’m not really good at anything, I look really old when I’m tired and I wake up hideous. I don’t really have much muscle so I can’t defend myself. I hate the crinkles by my eyes when I smile. My voice is annoying and I have a weird laugh. I’m apparently a shitty person because I don’t have friends except for yours.” I shook my head, not even wanting to believe what I was hearing.

“You’re not skinny, you’re fit babe” I reached my arms around her and tugged at the top of her pants, “And plus, you’re not skinny everywhere.” She giggled. I leaned in, kissing her quickly before continuing. “ I like your boobs, and you’re really good at giving head—”
