Nick was walking towards me. “Summer.” She greeted with a nod. “Hello.” She walked around the counter to lean on the space next to me at the register. “How ya doin?”

“What do you want?” I said rolling my eyes. She’s been here three days—three—and I already hate her. Not only was she an irritation to my eyeballs, but she had probably the worst personality out there. How did Zayn deal with her? I understand sex is about sex and not analyzing someone’s personality, but she is just unbearable.

“So, Harry’s been coming here a lot…to see you.”

“Well okay, if we’re counting 3 times as ‘a lot’ now. What’s your point?” I involuntarily glanced over at Harry picking through pants on the other side of the room. He always pretends to shop as he waits for my lunch break.

“And you always disappear with him when it’s your lunch break.”

I brought my eyebrows together as I looked at her. “So?”

“I’m just saying, you said you weren’t his girlfriend but you guys act like a proper couple. I’m just making sure you’re not a liar.”

“We don’t act like a couple. We’re just friends.”

“I used to be friends with him. I used to go places with him and laugh with him, but we weren’t like that.” She gestured to me and Harry as he disappeared behind a corner. “You guys are not just friends.”

“Well maybe you guys weren’t as close as he and I are.” I snapped. What is the point of her telling me this? Is she trying to make me jealous or something? Because it’s working…

“Yeah, I was closer with Zayn.” She said smugly. “And I mean, close. You really couldn’t imagine—”

“Actually he told me you were more of a pity fuck for him. He said you were always begging for it and he got so annoyed with you that he just gave in.” She gaped at me in shock and I just shrugged as I turned away and rang a customer up. I gave the guy a smile as I handed him his bag of sweaters and pants. “Have a nice day.” I said with a smile...to both of them.

He looked up at me as he slide his money across the counter. “Hey, what are you doing later, love?” I had to fight so hard not to roll my eyes at him as Nick was making a disgusted noise as she walked away.

“Nothing,” I said finally, trying to hide my disgust.

“Me too.”

“You should watch TV or something. I hear it’s a good way to pass the time.”

“Maybe you could come watch TV with me?” How about NO.

“Uh, I don’t think so…” He leaned on the counter and I took a small step back, trying to be as far from him as I could without being rude.

“Alright then, we could do something else then. I—”

Suddenly, Harry came out of nowhere. “Hey babe.” He greeted before reaching over the counter to grab my wrist and pulling me closer. He kissed me on the cheek before turning to look at the guy that was talking to me. “Who’s this? A friend?”

I was quite, literally frozen as I looked at him wide eyed. I don’t know why I was so surprised, it was technically the second time he kissed me…but he didn’t disappear after he did it like last time. He stood there and owned up to it with a grin as he looked this guy up and down. A whole second passed until I realized I should say something before this gets awkward.

“Uhh…” Yeah. That’s all I could think to say.

“Oh, sorry love. Didn’t know you had a boyfriend…”
