Five hours.
"Aubri, please eat something."
She chewed on her thumbnail as she paced the kitchen floor. "I'm not hungry."
"You can have some of my food."
"I'm not hungry."
"Babe"
"WHAT!" She snapped. Her eyes were wide with an unrecognizable emotion—something in the fear category. I grabbed a roll off my plate and held it out for her. She made no move to grab it.
"It'll make me feel better, Please." Finally she snatched the roll out of my hand before taking a big bite. She finished it in no time, and soon she took another from my plate. I understand why she's on edge though—I am too. But I'm going through a surge of confidence in myself; I've been dipping in and out of them. It's like every other hour I'm sure I'm going to win...but then I'd start thinking about what's going to happen if I lose...and I start doubting my plan...
No, stop thinking about it. I'm confident. I am.
"Should I...go pack...?" I swallowed and nodded. "Are you going to pack?"
I thought about it for a second, "You can carry my stuff for me, yeah?" She nodded with a small smile. "Come on." I led her up the stairs and into our room. Well kind of our room... "Get your biggest handbag." I said. She dug around in the closet before pulling out a large leather bag that I remember her buying online. "Ok...now what do you need?" I murmured to myself. I've never been good at packing.
"T-shirt?" She suggested.
I nodded, "Yes...and a jumper." She started walking around the room, collecting certain items of clothing. The scene made my heart ache. I don't like seeing her pack, especially considering the circumstances. "I guess you can wear your sweatpants..."
"Do I need snow boots?"
"No, I don't think so."
"How much underwear should I bring?"
I sighed, "I don't know. I guess like a couple days' worth. We'll be able to buy new stuff at one point." After the plane drops us off... "Bring your robe."
She paused, looking at me questionably. "You like that robe?" I nodded casually. "Baz bought it for me...while you were away." She cleared her throat and went back to rummaging through her drawers. "I thought I'd finally wear it."
"You look nice in it." She blushed and smiled at the floor as she thanked me. "Um, I guess you can pack your girly things...you know..."
"I won't need them. Not until next month."
