I sat in the conference room of the warehouse. After Giovanni had updated me last night. My heart fell when I had to end my day with Aurora early. I was extremely late for the meeting but I didn't care.

I had to take Aurora home before making my way to the warehouses.

My men and I sat in the room discussing the way forward to sorting out the Arturo probably.

"What are we going to do, Capo?"

"Whatever we can," I replied, fidgeting with the rings on my fingers. My mind was racing a mile a minute.

Arturo was smart. He was always one step ahead. So the best bet was for us to try to divide and conquer. We needed to get to his men first. Break down the walls before entering the house.

As my men discussed, I lost myself in thought. The only thing I could think of was Aurora. I hate that I had brought her into this world, but selfishly I couldn't let her go. She needed to be protected. And since Arturo already found out about her, I was at my end.

I couldn't bear the thought of anything happening to her. The weight of responsibility weighed heavily on my shoulders, but I knew I had to do whatever it took to keep her safe.

Just then, one of my trusted men, Marco, interrupted my thoughts. "Capo, we might have a lead on Arturo's men. One of our informants overheard a conversation at a local bar about a potential meeting they're having tonight."

My heart quickened with anticipation. This could be our chance to strike back and gain the upper hand. I nodded at Marco, signalling for him to continue.

"According to our source, the meeting is taking place at Tots, the bar on the outskirts of town," Marco explained.

Of course, it had to be a fucking strip club.

We needed to act swiftly and decisively. "Gather the men," I commanded, my voice filled with authority. "We'll intercept them before they even have a chance to meet. Divide and conquer, just as we planned."

My mind was racing with thoughts of strategy and ensuring the safety of both Aurora and my men. But my thoughts kept drifting back to Aurora. A light bulb went off in my head.

"We'll leave at 8 pm," I instructed, looking at my wristwatch to double-check the time. I stood up from my seat, and dismissed the others, before ushering Giovanni to the side.

"Si, capo?" He questioned.

"I need you to get the range ready and I need a small handgun," I said. I had to teach Aurora how to defend herself, should I not be around. I needed her to be safe.

Without any further questions, Giovanni left to fulfil my orders.

When I reached home, I was met with a sight that made my heart swell. Aurora was snuggled up on the couch with a big fluffy blanket swallowing her entire frame.

Her hair was messy and sloppily tied at the top of her head. She was completely mesmerized by the movie she was watching. I didn't want to disturb her peace but I had to.

The situation was too critical for me to let it slide. "Amore," I greeted her placing a kiss on her plump and pink lips. I tried not to sound stressed but the look on my face gave it away.
