SOREN BIANCHI

(Imagine they're speaking Italian again.)
While Aurora was getting ready in the other room, I made the effort to pack our clothes.
My stay with my parents was short-lived, but I needed to act soon before Arturo got a whiff of my plan. I began packing away Aurora's clothes when my mother knocked on the door.
"Do you have a minute?" My mum asked, slowly closing the door behind her.
"Sure mama," I responded, stopping my task and turning to look at her.
"You've got a good one, my boy." She said as she reached out to touch my cheek. Her eyes glistened with happiness.
My mum ushered me to sit down on the bed. She took the seat next to me and grabbed my hands. "I'm happy that you found someone that brings that beautiful smile to your face." She said.
"Grazie, mama," I replied, unsure where the conversation was going.
Until my mum pulled out a black velvet box. Within this box was a yellow gold banded ring with a beautiful marquise cut diamond on the top. The ring was breathtaking, with a few diamonds that sat on the band as accent pieces but not flashy enough to take away from the large diamond that sat atop an embroidered bezel.
"Since your father and I won't see you for your birthday. Consider this a present from us." She smiled, placing the velvet box in my palm.
"This is gorgeous mama, but I don't think you and Dad got my ring size right." I joked as my eyes focused on the ring in front of me.
"Give this to her, a gem like her deserves everything and I know you can show her the life she dreamed of." My mum stood up, placing a kiss on the top of my head before she exited the room.
I sat there for a few minutes just admiring the piece of jewellery. I know my parents spent a lot of money on this. We didn't have a generational ring that was passed down to all the Bianchi women.
My family believed that each lady who joined our family was unique and deserved a ring that embodied who they were.
And the ring in my hand? Described Aurora perfectly, that in a world where everyone was a diamond, she stood out. She shone brighter than any person I have ever met.
I quickly shoved the ring into my inside coat pocket before continuing to pack our stuff away.
Aurora stepped into the room, dressed in a cute linen set, long pants, and a shirt to match. Her hair was sitting in a puff on top of her head. She looked like an angel as always.
"Hi handsome," she beamed walking over to me. She quickly laced her arms around my neck, using her fingers to play with my hair.
I looked down at her, she was so short without heels, it was extremely adorable. I lowered my head down, our lips almost touching, but not quite. I whispered back to her, "Hi,".
She grabbed her heels from the foot of the bed before handing them to me. "Help?" She asked.
And I obliged. You don't say no to Aurora. Saying no to Aurora was like kicking a puppy in the face. And I was no sadist.
Eagerly I ushered her to sit on the bed before getting down on my knee to buckle on her strappy shoes.
"Amore," I said.
She hummed in response as she leaned back a bit balancing herself on her arms against the bed.
"I don't know if you know this, but my birthday is coming up in a week."
