Chapter 23 A Normal Day

I bet you can guess what happened the second I walked through the door.

"WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!?" My dad yelled

Yep, my dad screamed at me............ again. He had the same old speech telling me stuff like, y/n you know what boys are like, I'm just doing the best for you, it's my job as your father, bla bla bla bla bla bla. It's old at this point. I mean, screaming at me like that isn't gonna work on me this time. Yes, I know what has happened to me in the past and I very well understand the dangers but I don't care. I deserve to be happy and to be able to trust people, besides, it's not like any of them are my boyfriend or anything.........

I got grounded for another 2 months. Are you kidding me? I mean, I understand that I ran out the window onto the room with some guy I kissed a couple times as my other friend beat up my dad but..................... okay maybe I deserve it.

Of course, the conversation had to end with a, "I'm not being over protective, I'm just looking out for you. You're not ready for what they are going to throw at you. I never want to see you hanging out with another guy ever again, am I clear?"

And, of course, I responded with, "Okay dad, it won't happen again. I'm sorry."

But this time, I didn't mean it. I don't care what he says. I can hang out with who I want! It's not like they're a bad influence or anything....... I mean........ They did interrogate me....... And break an entry......... and Inosuke beats people up every day.......... But they're not bad people. Especially not Tanjiro.

I get ready to go to school the next day. That day, my dad drove me to school. Honestly, I felt a little embarrassed. All of the other students walked to school. I got there and Tanjiro was walking in with Nezuko like he usually does. Sadly, I couldn't greet him just yet because my dad is watching me from his car. I look down and straighten my uniform up a little and fix my hair. Since Zenitsu is the dress code monitor, I try to look my best when I walk by. When I looked up, I realized Zenitsu wasn't there.

He's probably just running late.............. Again........ Oh well. Hopefully he doesn't miss too much of the school day. Well, since I have time to spare without able to talk to anyone this morning, I guess I'll just go to cla-

"Meow."

I see a small little calico cat in the bushes. I've always been more of a dog person but....... This one's kind of cute. Actually, this one's really cute. I bend down to the bushes and the cat rubs against my legs. I smile.

"Why aren't you sweet?" I smile and scratch its head, "I wonder what your name is."

I giggle.

"That's Chachamaru." Someone says from behind me. I yelp and jump back. It was Yushiro. He usually doesn't talk to anyone. I heard a rumor that he likes the health teacher, Ms. Tamayo.

"Oh! Yushiro! Didn't see you there!" I chuckled awkwardly and realized that I lost my balance and I'm now sitting in the dirt........... Great.......... "Anyway, what were you saying?"

"The cat," Yushiro said, petting the cat, "It's name is Chachamaru."

"Chachamaru? How could you be so sure that's it's name? It seems like a stray. I've seen it outside the school a couple of times."

Yushiro rolled his eyes, "It's my cat, you idiot."

I pause for a second. I wasn't sure how to respond. Yushiro was never the nicest guy. He's pretty honest though and there's something about him that I find likable for some reason.

"I'm sorry." I said, "I just assumed. Why is your cat at school then? I've seen him here overnight as well."

"That's because I just let Chachamaru go where he wants. He knows he way home and I leave the window unlocked and he has all of his flea shots so I'm okay with it. You can keep him if you want."
