Chapter 28 Rainy Emotions

(Zenitsu's POV)

After that, I walked her home. I felt kind of awkward. Did she really like Tanjiro? Does she still like Tanjiro?! My heart is falling apart.

Once her house is in sight in the distance, we stop so her dad doesn't see me with her.

"Okay....... Well....... Thanks for walking me home." She smiles at me.

"Oh, it's no problem, really." I said, smiling back.

She begins to walk toward her house as I watch to make sure she gets inside safely.

I just............ can't believe that that chocolate was meant for Tanjiro. I feel so stupid. That was the best moment of my life and it was fake. I really thought she liked me then. Did she even want to be my Valentine or was that fake too? I just............... I just need some time to think.

I sat on the sidewalk and thought. Was everything we've been through fake? She told me she liked me and she trusted me and she kissed me too......... but I really thought it was love at first sight but....... But now I just look like some clueless idiot.......... Everything is ruined........ I didn't realize how much I cared about her until now and I don't know what she feels at all...... not even a little.......

It's like everything about her is a mystery to me now. I hate it. I thought I knew her. I thought that I was the only one who knew her....... I thought I was special. Turns out I was nothing when I thought I was something.

(Y/n's POV)

The next morning was a school day. Not just a school day, it was a rainy school day. My favorite kind of day. The rain is so relaxing to me. It makes me so at peace with the world. I woke up early that morning because I wanted to enjoy it and I sat on my porch to take in the beautiful morning.

Then Tanjiro comes up to me. "Hey y/n!"

I look confused seeing Tanjiro and Nezuko up so early. "Tanjiro? Nezuko? What are you doing so early?"

Tanjiro smiles, "I'm going to walk you to school. I'm surprised you're up though. I was going to wait for you to wake up with Nezuko."

"Oh, does Zenitsu know about this?"

"I mean." Tanjiro pauses, "He won't mind. I'm sure he just wants you at school safe."

I smile. "Alrighty then."

I text Zenitsu, telling him to meet me at school and not to bother walking me to school and I make my way to school.

We got to the front gate of the school. It was still locked. We were here so early. It was about 5 a.m. Tanjiro and I were standing under the same umbrella.

"Well, looks like we'll be standing here a while." Tanjiro said with a smile.

I smile back, "Well, it's nice out here, I don't mind."

"TANJIRO! Y/N! NEZUKO!" We hear from a distance.

"Oh! Zenitsu!" I say with a smile.

"Zenitsu, what are you doing out here so early?" Tanjiro asked.

"I wanted to walk Y/n to school......" Zenitsu said with a slight rage in his voice, "But you took that opportunity from me."

"Oh-I-I was just passing by so I figured-" Tanjiro stuttered as he was trying not to make Zenitsu more upset.

Zenitsu stared at us up and down, "And I see...... that she was having a lot of fun with you in the process......."

"Zenitsu....." I said, "Why are you saying it like that?"
