Chapter 37 I'm proud of you

After Zenitsu caught on fire, I went home soon after. I realized the time and that my family was probably waiting for me. Zenitsu gladly walked me home that night. He's such a nice guy. I can't wait to continue to graduate with him. He looked at me as we were about to reach my house.

"Alright....." Zenitsu said, "I'll let you go now..... I don't want your dad to see me."

"Okay........ Thank you again Zenitsu." I smile.

He smiles back, "Just...........just be safe......"

"My house is 100 feet away, I'll be fine."

He looks worried, "100 feet is a lot.."

"I can see my house!"

"Okay, okay fine...... just be careful!"

I kiss his cheek, "I will. Thank you."

His eyes widen and he blushes, "No................problem.." he said shyly.

I giggle and walk over to my house, waving to him before I walk into the front door. I was then faced with my dad. I gulp immediately.

(Zenitsu's POV)

I'M HAPPY SO HAPPY SO HAPPY!

My life is, well, awesome right now. The girl of my dreams just accepted my love! I never thought I would see the day! Next up is marriage!!!!!!!

We just had the most wonderful night together too! I mean, I did catch on fire but....... Maybe it was like..... The fires of love? IT'S A SIGN! WE'RE SOULMATES! I spin as I enter my house. Kaigaku looked pissed off by my giddy presence and Gramps slightly smiled.

"Well, you're in a good mood."

I giggle, "How can I not be in a good mood? I just had the time of my life with the love of my life!"

Gramps smiles at me, "I'm proud of you, you know."

I pause and look at him.

"I'm proud that you found a girl that you're truly happy with and she sees the greatness in you too. I'm proud that you are committed to her and want to help her. I'm glad you're happy. You've really grown, you know."

I smiled slightly, "Thanks gramps...."

He comes up and hugs me. I smile and hug him back.

(Y/n's POV)

"So.........." My dad said, tapping his foot, "I'll give you a chance to tell the truth."

I just sat there in shock.

"Lying is pointless...... I saw you........... Kissing that guy's cheek......."

I gulp.

My dad sighs and pretends to be calm, "So here's what you're gonna do. You're gonna break up with him..... And never talk to him...... or I'm gonna go into drastic measures......"

I grit my teeth, "You're not in charge of my life you-"

"Listen, I'm not trying to fight. I just want what safe-"
"ZENITSU IS SAFE! HE KEEPS ME SAFE! HE IS SAFE AS CAN BE!"

"HE'S A TEENAGE BOY, HE DOESN'T DO SHIT!" My dad screams in my face before trying to calm down again, "Listen, I know you think you're all grown up and healed from that past experience, but you're not. You're pushing yourself down a path that you're not ready for and you're gonna end up hurting yourself even more than before because of it."

"I'm not a child...... I know what's okay and not okay with me and I don't need you deciding that for me. You are being so overprotective and I'm so sick of it dad! I'm sick of it!"

My dad looks really angry, "I don't care, You're not seeing him again, am I clear!?"
"NO I LOVE HIM! I LOVE HIM AND I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU WANNA SAY ABOUT IT!"

I see my dad's entire mood turn eerie.

"Alright.......... I guess I should tell you then that-"

(Zenitsu's POV)

I go up to my room and take off my shirt and look at the mirror at my bandaged arm. Damn..... It hurt. I unbandaged my arm and looked at the burn. I mean, I kind of look tough with it. Maybe it'll turn into a super cool scar or something. I wonder if Y/n would like that. I try to flex in the mirror a little. Damn that was a bad idea. I hold my arm in pain.

I decided to put more ointment on the burn and wrap it up. I sigh. Damn it's gonna hurt in the morning. At least I get to see Y/n tomorrow anyway. I smile at the thought that I'll see my precious girlfriend tomorrow. Then I got a feeling.

A weird feeling......... That feeling that you get when you're being watched. I slightly look around my room to see my closet cracked open. I gulp. I'm probably being paranoid..... But........just in case........ I should.........

I swing open the closet.

Nothing

I sigh.

"Good."

"Yeah that would have been bad if there was someone in there." Inosuke said from behind me.

I scream and jump back. "INOSUKE!?"
"KAHAHAHAHA! YOU SCREAM LIKE A GIRL!"

Tanjiro then calmly walks into the room. It looks like he was just using the bathroom, "Oh, Zenitsu. You're home. Hi."

"What are you guys doing here!?"
"We just wanted to stop by and hang out with you." Tanjiro smiled, "What happened to your arm?"

"It caught on fire."

Tanjiro's eyes widened, "Fire?! How?!"

"Y/n and I were making s'mores and, yeah, my arm caught on fire."

"I bet it looked awesome." Inosuke said and cackled.

"Gee thanks. This 2nd degree burn on my arm doesn't feel awesome though."

"Anyway, You and y/n were hanging out?" Tanjiro asked.

"Well, yeah, she's my girlfriend."

"That's so sweet. I'm really proud of you Zenitsu."

I look at him, "Proud of what?"

"Making yourself happy!" He said, "For asking her out in the first place! I'm proud of both of you! You're both great for each other and I can tell your relationship will last after highschool too!"

I blush, "You really think so?"

Tanjiro nods.

I get all giddy again, "Well if you really think so, it must be true! I should propose next!"

"Hey Monitsu." Inosuke said while digging through my stuff and drawers, "Why do you have these balloons in your drawers?"

"Balloons? I don't have ba- INOSUKE PUT THAT DOWN!!!"
