AFTER A FEW WEEKS of settling in at the Salvatore boarding house, I've decided to contact an old friend. She knows everything about everything, and I want to know everything there is about being an angel.

I've also come to terms with the new era. Elena is starting to warm up to me, though I still am weary about the fact that she shares a face with my sister. One thing I have also noticed is the lingering stares between Elena and Stefan... and Elena and Damon. I don't feel like getting in the middle of that.

I packed my bags with a few days worth of clothes, deciding to make a vacation out of it. After walking downstairs, I spot Stefan in the living room.

"Hey, I'll be gone for a few days. I've been in contact with someone who will be able to give me more information about the whole 'angel' thing." I inform him so he doesn't worry at my sudden disappearance.

Stefan stands up from the couch. "That's great. Where're you meeting this person?"

"Boston," I say. He nods. "Bye, then."

I'm unsure if I should hug him, kiss him on the cheek or not do anything at all.

"So, what's a socially acceptable declaration of absence?" I question awkwardly.

He shrugs. "I don't know if it's 'socially acceptable' but I'll take a hug."

I smile, wrapping my arms around his shoulders. He hugs me back, his hands settling on my waist. The hug lingers a tad bit long, both of us unsure when to let go. I decide first, releasing him from my grasp and walking out the door.

SHE TOLD ME TO MEET her at a bookstore so that's where I find myself. I look around for a moment before spotting her pin-straight light brunette hair. And of course, a baby blue cardigan.

Delaney turns around, "Hey, kid."

She's the first one to throw her arms around my shoulders, not that I minded. I think our reunion definitely warranted a hug. She pulls back, cupping my face with her hands.

"God, you're going to be this gorgeous forever." Her comment makes me smile. We take a seat across from each other at the nearest table.

She places a book on the table. The title reads,

'Angels to Demons'

Delaney pushes the book towards me. "This book will tell you everything you need to know about being a guardian angel."

I open the huge book, skimming through the pages. Instead of reading it here, I place it in my bag, deciding to take this time to catch up with Delaney.

"So, how's life?" I ask a more general question, leaving the answer up to her interpretation.

She lets out a breath. "It's.. alright. How's life as a vampire?"

"You know, I always looked at Katerina and could never imagine myself being like her, and now I am. It only makes me realize how much of a bitch she was." The last sentence makes Delaney burst out laughing. I join her.

I've never openly said a negative thing about my sister. Now that I'm a vampire, it's like everything is suddenly so clear.

"Yeah, tell that to me in 1797." Delaney chuckles out, taking a sip of her tea.

Our laughter dies down as she takes a look at her watch.

"I've gotta go. See you later, kid." She kisses her hand, smacking it onto my forehead. I giggle at the gesture.

"Hot date?" I ask her.

She turns around, "Something like that."

Since Delaney left, I decided to use the quietness of the bookstore to start reading the book she gave me. A few things stuck out to me.

Flight. Spirit possession. Telepathy. Emotion consuming. Soul binding.

The very last sentence of the book is what stood out to me the most.

Death to the angel who fails to fulfill the prophecy.

The book mentioned 'the prophecy' numerous amount of times but hadn't explained it. Until, I notice a note sticking out of the book. It's Delaney's handwriting.

1919 Angel Avenue, Boston Massachusetts

How ironic. I have no reason not to trust her so I drive myself to the location written on the paper. Once I arrive, I notice acres of empty land with a seven foot angel statue right in the middle.

I admire the sculpture for a moment before realizing that there's writing on the bottom. I bend to my knees in order to be able to read it.

With every angel, resides a fingerprint. Yet not with every fingerprint comes an angel.

I hate riddles. I was never good at them. With my curiosity getting the best of me, I reach my hand up to touch the monument. The moment I do, the writing begins to change.

Protect who you were born to protect. If they die, you die with them.

Well that's not very subtle. I take it them turning into the undead doesn't count, seeing as I'm still alive. I guess I have it easy.

Or so much harder.
