The harsh glare of early morning light rudely infiltrated Izuku's room, slicing through his heavy curtains without mercy and assaulting his affinity for sleeping in.
"Seriously, what sadistic monster thought 6am classes were a good idea?" he grumbled, peeling himself from the warm cocoon of his sheets. The prospect of a new day hardly seemed enticing enough to shake the lingering tendrils of slumber.
Expecting the common areas to be blissfully empty while others slumbered, Izuku shuffled out in pursuit of breakfast and a rejuvenating shower before Evoker class. But the rhythmic swish of a sword cutting through air captured his attention, banishing any remaining grogginess.
He blinked owlishly as he pushed open the door to find Ochaco already immersed in focused training, her lithe form executing an intricate series of sword forms. Her dedication painted a stark contrast to Izuku's usual morning lethargy, the unexpected but compelling sight injecting a surge of energizing adrenaline.
Ochaco turned towards him with a warm smile. "Good morning, Sir Knight."
"Mornin' Ochaco," Izuku mumbled, stifling a jaw-cracking yawn.
Amusement danced in her warm brown eyes as she took in his rumpled, bleary-eyed state. "I take it you're not much of a morning person?"
"Not really," he admitted with a self-deprecating chuckle. "Waking up this early every day would be torture. Just as well those classes are only twice weekly - otherwise I might lose my mind completely."
"I take it that it's the opposite for you?" he asked.
"It is," she confirmed with a regal tilt of her chin. "I begin my days around 4am with a light breakfast, allowing time for digestion before warming up and commencing sword practice around 5am. I can't afford to let my skills rust during my stay in this side."
As Izuku turned to leave for the kitchen, Ochaco's melodious voice stopped him. "Before you go, might I ask where you were last night? If it's not too presumptuous..."
"No, it's fine," Izuku assured her quickly. "I went to check out that bar Aizawa-sensei mentioned across the street. Midnight offered me a job as a bouncer there."
Ochaco's brows climbed in surprise. "A bouncer? How unorthodox to have an Evoker in such a role. I can only imagine it's excessive..."
A roguish grin played about Izuku's lips. "Maybe a bit overkill, but I agreed. No reason to turn down extra income, right?"
'Never mind getting to the truth regarding my father and these visions,' he thought.
A spark of admiration gleamed in Ochaco's eyes as she nodded in understanding. "A practical viewpoint. Very well, I won't delay you further from your studies."
As Izuku pivoted to head for the kitchen once more, a mischievous glint entered his eyes. "No good luck kiss for your knight?" He flashed her a roguish grin and eyebrow waggle.
Ochaco's full lips curved in an indulgent smile as she closed the distance between them. Rising on her tiptoes, she pressed a chaste peck to his cheek, her flowery scent enveloping him in a heady cloud. "That will have to suffice for now, Sir Knight. If you desire another, it shall have to happen on our next date."
Izuku's heart stuttered in his chest as heat bloomed across his face. "T-Tomorrow afternoon, then?"
"That seems like a great idea," Ochaco agreed warmly as she turned and strode from the room with that same regal elegance, leaving a swirl of desire tingling in her wake.
Izuku watched her departing form appreciatively. 'Hate to see you go, but I love to watch you leave...'
After the charged encounter, the crisp morning air still carried echoes of Ochaco's swordplay. Izuku set off towards his early class, the world slowly rousing and bathing the campus in hushed, muted tones of dawn's first light.
